Starting from your hotel, we will walk to the Acropolis. The Acropolis is a hill which served as the fortress of Athens over a period of almost six thousand years continuously. It is crowned by the ancient temple of the goddess Athena, the Parthenon. After visiting the Acropolis we will descend to the picturesque neighborhoods of Plaka, the old town, from where we will reach the Acropolis Museum. The Acropolis Museum houses the artefacts of the Acropolis and the Acropolis area.

Maria provided an exceptional experience, including being very responsive before the tour. We went to the Acropolis Museum first, and from the moment we arrived outside the building, Maria began to point out interesting exhibits and answer our questions, even about the dancers who were performing for the holidays! Maria showed us highlights on every floor of the museum in a way we'd never have been able to do on our own. She was very patient during the walk to/around the Acropolis site, taking pictures and time to view from all angles. She gave insights into how the Parthenon was built and made connections between what we had seen in the Museum and the Site. Additionally, she shared stories about present day Athens. When I wanted to see Anafiotika on the way back, she very thoughtfully led us there. We appreciate how Maria went above and beyond and will recommend her whole heartedly.
