My name is Alex, I am a full-time licensed guide and also a teacher at Lyon University, where I give classes to future guides. I am responsible for 5 classes : adaptation to American visitors, adaptation to river cruise tourism, food tour experience, ethics and business creation, interactive and intertaining tours. Welcoming people in my 2, 000 year old city of Lyon is my second nature ! I am here to offer completely different tours because I really love my job, and that is what really makes the difference ! I am a foodie and I deeply believe that food is a perfect introduction to another culture, a wonderful way to enjoy life, meet people, and face otherness. Lyon also used to be the main centre of the silk production in Europe during centuries : you can't imagine the treasures we still have in beautiful made-in-Lyon-velvet workshops, and the skills of passionate artisans we meet together during weaving demonstrations or demonstrations of handmade painting on silk. . . Here is a 3h panoramic tour to enjoy the 3 main sections with me: Lovely ride in funicular towards the stunning church Notre-Dame de Fourviere, then loooove the amazing panorama over the entire region (pretty sure you'll see the Mont Blanc a hundred miles away!) Then we will head to Vieux-Lyon for a walk through the worldwide famous secret passageways named "traboules" : I have keys and codes so private access to unknow places ! End of the tour in the Presqu'Ile with the opera house and the city hall ! Here is not just a sightseeing tour: you will meet friends of mine, local people and passionate artisans who are willing to share!
Alex was absolutely fantastic! He was able to show us Lyon through his eyes as a local. He engages in such insightful conversations that are delightful and very informative. He showed us all the hidden gems. At the end, he took us to the old hospital building with the largest dome in Lyon which now houses a beautiful bar. He makes the tour very lively, fun and memorable! We look forward to seeing him again when we have a chance to visit again!

Alex was excellent - you don't need to think twice, just book him for anything to do with Lyon! I knew he'd be very good after working with him ahead of time to arrange a custom itinerary for my group. He was very knowledgeable and fun, and adapted the tour in real-time to work with the interests and needs of our group. We did a wine tasting and a tour of Vieux Lyon. When researching other bars/activities for Lyon, I kept coming across Alex on blogs etc - all Lyon roads seem to lead to him! Thank you!

•Ride in cable car towards Fourvière Hill (basilica ND de Fourvière and panorama over the city) •Descent by foot towards Vieux-Lyon district to discover the typical passageways (traboules) •Then we will cross the river Saone to reach Presqu'Ile in order to see the main square of Lyon, place des Terreaux, where the tour ends (opera house and city hall).
