Hi my name is Hans and ever since I was a small boy, growing up in the east of the Netherlands, I have been fascinated by my country's history, landscape and culture. In 1996 I completed a PhD in European history at the University of Amsterdam and since then I have been leading tours through Amsterdam and the Netherlands. It has been a constant pleasure for me to show off the most beautiful spots of the Netherlands to new arrivals and reveal just some of its charms, secrets and unbelievable stories. Car and bus tours are all very well for getting around the Netherlands but it's only through walking that you can truly feel like you've fully experienced this truly unique country. My academic background has given me extensive knowledge of Europe's history and culture but my guiding experience has also included flower themed tours as well as waterland tours which explore the countryside of the Netherlands.
