LICENSED GUIDE-ARCHAEOLOGIST Welcome to Grece! Welcome home! "Philos"-friend- is a very old greek universal word. The Odyssey is a story of travelling, Odysseus: " had seen the cities of a lot of people and their way of thinking he has understood". I love traveling, I am doing this job not only because I want to show you my country but also because I want to hear about yours. I am a licensed tourist guide and archaeologist who will give you correct historical information with the insight of a local. I have worked in several parts of Greece - Santorini was my favourite - and now I am in Athens, my hometown. Athens is not just the Acropolis, it is a dynamic city with strong personality and many things to talk about We can arrange a variety of tours here or go on one / two days trips to Delphi, ancient Olympia, Mycene e. t. c. . I look forward to meeting you and showing you my country. I promise you an authentic and most enjoyable tour!! Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Tourism: Licence of Tourist Guide. The Acropolis is the landmark of Athens. The place where the city got its name after a mythical contest between Athena and Poseidon. Parthenon was the most famous temple in all the antiquity, an architectural wonder that still puzzles the architects. What I love about it is the pure beauty that hides in every detail of the marblework. People in any age enjoy the stories of greek mythology and I can give you an insight. Being an archaeologist, every time I go to Acropolis I remember the time I spent there working in the excavation of the Acropolis museum. Come join me to visit this heritage site together!
-Dionysos theatre. Short stop with some talk about the birth of drama. -Sanctuary of Asclepios, god of healing. -Herodion theatre. Still in use every summer. Perfect spot for photos and a glimpse of the city. - Propylaea and Nike temple. Brief introduction to other visible monuments like Mars hill, ancient Agora and Pnyx. -Parthenon. -Erechtheion, temple. Here is the heart of the Acropolis legends and the sacred olive tree. We will walk around it to see all sides and the famous porch of the maidens supporting the roof. - We will stand on the medieval bastion with the 360° view of Athens -A relaxing 15 min. downhill walk to Acropolis museum. We stroll through all galleries and examine the best pieces with a special mention to the Parthenon sculpture and the " lost" statues. The building is all glass with a visible excavation at the basement.
