Hi, my name is Bart. Great news that you're planning to visit The Netherlands. I'd love to contribute to make your stay unforgettable. I live with my family in the middle of Amsterdam and we enjoy the city every day. With my own consultancy firm I work with people from all over the world. It is so much fun to meet new people with completely different backgrounds and hearing their stories. My family and I also have great memories of our three years stay in Charlotte, North Carolina. I'm passionate about history, culture and art to feel and understand the choices made by people and to discover their stories that affect our lives today. If ever I'd need to stay on a desert island, I'd definitely bring my jazz music, mountain bike, great beers and cheese. I enjoy sharing my love for Amsterdam and all the incredible sites The Netherlands has to offer. I'm looking forward to showing you around and for you to experience and enjoy these special places. There are so many nice places to visit. So, if you have any special requests, I can easily set up a custom tour for you. All my regular tours are priced with Amsterdam as our starting point. But, should you want to start anywhere else, that's absolutely no problem. If you would like to compile a multi-day program with me? No problem! Just let me know and we'll put a nice program together. I love to customize my tours to your preferences and ideas. Half of my tours are custom tours! Next to my regular tours I would love to show you Belgium (e.g. Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels). If you would like to do that out of Amsterdam I might be a very suitable tourguide for you. I've toured with travelers from all over the world: USA, Canada, Germany, Malaysia, Mexico, Guatemala, England, Kenia, South Africa, The Philippines and Hong Kong. Always a joy to have fun with foreigners!

In September 1944 Operation Market Garden aimed to circle around the Siegfried Line to get a breakthrough into Germany. The main battle theatres are Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Arnhem. In this tour we'll follow the steps of 101st US Airborne Division around Eindhoven: the US 501, 502 and 506 Para Infantry Regiments. I've made a personal site selection that tells the story quite well in one day. Did you love Band of Brothers? Then this tour is made for you. We'll be at many memorable Easy Company sites. Growing up, I was keen to hear my parents and grandparents talk about the war. I have been connecting the dots of this heroic and tragic past ever since. Would you like to step into this time machine with me? I would love to hear about your WWII stories to make our tour a personal and unique experience. If you need to take it really easy on our field day: don't worry, I'm easy going and patient. I'll pull you through and we'll take breaks whenever we want to. I'll tweak our plan to suit your personal interests.
I will pick you up at 8AM at your hotel. We'll drive down to Eindhoven where we will arrive at about 9. 30AM. We'll be back in Amsterdam at approximately 6. 30PM. A selection of the sites we will hit: -The Son drop zone where Dick Winter's 506th Easy Company landed. -The famous Son bridge where in 24 hours a Bailey bridge was constructed. -Famous liberation sites (Stratumseind, Frankrijkstraat, Markt and the St. Catherine church in Eindhoven where the crowds welcomed our 506th Easy Cy heroes. -The signature 501st PIR spots at the town of Veghel and the Drop Zone at the village of Eerde. -The two HQ's of the 101st generals Maxwell Taylor and Gerald Higgens in Son and at the Henkenshage castle in St. Oedenrode. -And on our way back to Amsterdam: Schoonderlocht estate where the 101st kicked off the October 1944 battle of "The Island" and where you can stand in the exact footsteps of Dick Winter. And on the Eshof farm entry: stand in the footsteps Gen. Maxwell Taylor and Brig. Gen. Anthony McAuliffe ("nuts").
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
We will take my car to drive down to the Eindhoven area. A Volkswagen Golf Plus. Quite comfortable with 3 guests (see my pictures). We will be driving 275 miles (440km). That includes 175 miles of transfer to the battle fields and 100 miles in the area. So we will see a lot of sites!!. If you are a party of 4 to 6 travelers, then I will arrange a luxury rental van for us (see my pictures). The extra cost for this van will be 402 euros. Please let me know the size of your party or preference.
Eindhoven, North Brabant, Netherlands
I will pick you up at your Amsterdam hotel or the Amsterdam cruiseterminal.
