Easy going private Holland tours by van (max 7 passengers). My main interest is to give you a wider view of Holland than that of only tulips, clogs and cheese. As an independent guide, I do not come with any kind of 'must-see' plan. Of course, it is important to have knowledge about the culture, the museums and history, but I prefer to show my visitors how the Dutch live. Overview of your Amsterdam tour
World War II is still very much alive in the Netherlands! The Anne Frank House, the Corrie ten Boom House, the Dutch Resistance Museum, Operation Market Garden in the Airborne Museum, Overloon War Museum, Canadian, ANZAC and American war cemeteries. World War I sites in Flanders have my special interest. Of course we can do the the tour in combination with: - An overview and orientation of Amsterdam. - Sightseeing the beautiful countryside of Holland. - Experiencing the typical Dutch traditional life with windmills, cheese farms and picturesque villages.

Hans expertly guided us through the historic Ghent, Belgium and WW I sites: American Cemetery, Canadian (Brooding Soldier) Monument, Tyne Cot Cemetery, and the Passendale Museum (in Zonnebeke), Hans showed us the Essex Farm Cemetery and Field Hospital where Canadian LtCol John McCrae provided medical support (and authored the poem "In Flanders Field). We visited Ieper and the Menin Gate with a nice lunch at the Half Moon Brewery (with an exposed beer pipeline). Hans is a wonderful guide!

To see the American cemetery you must drive two hours south but the drive is worth it. Hans has a delightful high sitting van so the landscapes are easily viewed. The cemetery is moving and beautiful. We also visited the outstanding Overloon War Museum. This is a must see if you enjoy WWII history!! Hans is an excellent driver, provided water for drinking and answered all our questions. He is so pleasant and fun to be around.

For the tours I have a luxury and spacious VW T5 available, with big panoramic windows. The van has big and wide doors to make it easy to get in and out. Because of the Dutch climate it has a well fuctioning heating system. And of course an air con system is integrated. My van has a baggage capacity for a standard suitcase per person plus a carry-on bag. If you are planning to take extra baggage, I can organize an additional car.
