Hi there, I'm Holly and I am a Brit living in the Netherlands, six years ago I moved to study my Masters in Museum Studies at the University of Amsterdam, found the love of my life and decided to stick around. After graduating in 2020, I began guiding 3 years ago, I have always loved history and dreamed of being a history teacher when I was young. Now I get to be a mobile history teacher through tour guiding and I love showing visitors around my favourite places in Amsterdam and its surrounds. My background in museum studies brings a different perspective to museum tours, and I draw on my partner's family's experience during the Second World War to bring that period of history to life when giving Jewish Quarter tours. I'm also a foodie and love to share Dutch food with curious visitors who may not have experienced Dutch food before. My tours are customizable and adaptable, and I'm more than happy to discuss your wishes to create the best tour for you. Prior to moving to the Netherlands I backpacked around Australia for 2 years, so I'm quite adventorous and happy to meet new people from all over the world! I hope I will get to show you around Amsterdam sometime soon!

Amsterdam was once called “the Jerusalem of the West’’ by Sephardi jews who fled Portugal in the 1400s, and later gained the Yiddish nickname ‘Mokum’ from the Ashkenazi community in the 1800s. For almost 350 years Amsterdam was a safe haven for the Jewish community until the Nazi occupation in 1940 began. Over the course of this walking tour we will visit sites and monuments that express the prosperity, resistance, tragedy and resilience of Amsterdam’s Jewish community from the pre to post war period. Including visits to the Portuguese Synagogue, the Holocaust Name Monument and the Hollandse Schouwburg. This private tour gives you a well rounded view of the history of the Jewish community in Amsterdam, and can be customized depending on your interests. Tickets for Portuguese Synagogue not included. Walk to Anne Frank House can be added but tickets for museum not included.
- Waterlooplein Flea Market (except Sundays and rainy days) - Spinoza Monument - Jewish Resistance Monument - Rembrandt House - South Church - House de Pinto - Moses & Aaron Church - Portuguese Synagogue (except Saturdays & religious holidays) - Dokwerker Statue - National Holocaust Name Monument - Anne Frank Tree - Wertheim Park - Auschwitz Monument - Hollandse Schouwburg
