Half Day Netherlands Windmills Tour and Countryside

Of course when you come to Holland you want to see windmills. Why do we have so many windmills you may wonder? Most of the land in the Netherlands has been reclaimed from the sea. In fact a large part of our country stands beneath sea level. To achieve this we invented special windmills that pump the excess water out of the country. Dutch windmills are one of my favorite subjects to talk about. The Dutch war against water, the making of dams and dykes. On this tour you will see first hand a water pump system from the inside of the windmill. We can also drive through one of the oldest regions with reclaimed land, A Unesco word heritage site called Beemster Polder Old farms, beautiful pastural landscapes, dykes, and windmills, all of which will make up the ingredients of our trip. The local villages are truly picturesque, truly like stepping into a classic painting. Same for Volendam, the fishermen's village. You can try some haring there and we will also visit a cheese farm! And don't forget a Dutch beer.
