Hello everybody, I'm Gaia . My name means happy and actually I'm very happy because I do the most beautiful job in the world: I'm a tour guide! I have a deep passion for art and in particular for painting. After classical/art studies I graduated in Law. But culture and history remained my passion. Thanks to my parents I had a childhood immersed in the history of art, from the ancient Roman and Greek myths to the contemporary and modern art. This upbringing has transformed me in a guide specialized in museum. To guarantee you a high-quality service I decided to follow a course to become an official guide in The Netherlands and I'm proud to be a member of this association. During my study I could deepen my knowledge of subjects such art, history and the famous water management. I'm a big fan of the famous Golden Age period and the many things that developed during that time: the 17th century. In particular, the beautiful paintings by Rembrandt and other great artists which are a true highlight. I love to show people around and to let them fall in love with Amsterdam and the the other wonderful places in The Netherlands. But my opinion is that a tour is not only share knowledge about history, art and coulture but create a meaningful and personal experience. I love to build a genuine connection with travellers! I love to create memorable experiences for everyone involved in a tour: also for kids and teenagers to whom I feel particulary connected sharing with them my enthusiasm in a light-hearted way. I'm particulary suitable for group of friends, family tours but also for travellers with particulars need and attention as people with limited mobility. I have experience of touring with wheelchair users both in Amsterdam and its most popular museum. -Licensed guide: member of official guide organization in The Netherlands. -Diploma after a course by institute Roc in Amsterdam to become guide in The Netherland. -Museum guide -Municipality license to guide in the city center of Amsterdam -Licensed Journalist in Italy -Bachelor diploma degree in Law. -Driving license I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding, I can offer a full range of experiences

There is one epic moment in dutch history: the XVII century, also known as the Golden Age. A moment when everything flourished: from art to science, from overseas trade to city developments. It's when Amsterdam built the Canal Belt, three big canals lined by magnificent houses, today on the world heritage Unesco's list. And it's exactly here, along this grachten (a canal in Dutch) that I want to make with you a plunge into the past to discover how people of that time, lived and thought. My purpose is to give you a sense of life during the Golden Age. We will stroll along the canals and we admire the opulent townhouses and their variety of architectural styles, the decorative gabels and cornices and window shapes. In particular, We will enter and visit two of the most famous canal houses of the 1700s: the Bartolotti house and the Museum van Loon.
We will start our tour by the Dam, the main Amsterdam square. We will walk to the Canal belt and we will stop and visit the 'House Bartolotti, a flamboyant stap gable house built in the typical Dutch Reinassance style of the most famous architect of the time Handrick de Keyser. Afterward we will pass also some magnificent buildings as the Pulizer Hotel, the Cromhout hun, the Canal House museum over the way this part of the city was built (also possible to add to the tour on your request) the Museum van Loon, a delightful canal house museum owned by one of the most important families of the XVII century. We will get inside the amazing rooms adorned with fine pieces of furniture, porcelain and sculptures and its magnificent garden with the old stables. On request is possible to customize this tour and make it longer adding the visit to other canal houses.
