Hi, this is your captain speaking. My name is Gus, born in Amsterdam a long time ago. I will be your local tour guide and private captain, but certainly not your history teacher. My private canal tours are non‑scripted — that’s what makes them personal and intimate. I will tell you many interesting stories and facts about my beautiful city, its buildings, and the canal belt. I don’t use any pictures or maps during my tours; we simply look outside and around us. I love answering all your questions. For me, sailing guests around the canals is still just as much fun for you, I hope, as it is for me. Which brings me to my bio: I have been sailing the canals for only a few years. Before that, I ran a trading company in several businesses, mainly dealing in promotional items that you can now buy directly from all over the globe. The market changed, and COVID ended my last business. I found an ad for skippers and, because I already loved boats, I took the chance. I did my training, got the right papers, and started working for several canal cruise companies on different sizes and styles of boats. At the end of 2025, I found the Energie salon boat, built in 1933, with a permit for commercial tours, but in terrible condition. I went to the bank and took the risk of becoming an entrepreneur at my age. I worked for two months, twelve hours a day, and you can soon see the result for yourself — or in one of the photos. Now, with my own salon boat, I can share my passion for Amsterdam and the canals with you while you sit in my cozy floating living room. Hope to see you soon, and welcome aboard. Gus

Amsterdam Historical Canal Cruise – Discover the City Like a Local My favorite time to cruise the canals is so calm and relaxing. Experience Amsterdam from the water on a relaxing 120-minute canal cruise through the historic city center, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Glide past elegant 17th-century canal houses, charming bridges, and iconic landmarks like the Anne Frank House and Westerkerk, while soaking in the unique atmosphere of the city. You’ll cruise aboard a comfortable, 100% electric boat, making this a quiet, sustainable, and authentic way to explore Amsterdam. In sunny weather, the windows are opened for unobstructed views; if it’s cooler or rainy, the large windows will give you a perfect view and warmth, with blankets available, or if really cold, we can turn on the heater. This is a historical and cultural cruise, perfect for travellers who want to learn and relax. The group size is small (max. 8 guests), ensuring a personal and enjoyable experience.

My own licensed saloon boat, ENERGIE; a beautiful historic vessel from 1933. This charming vessel can accommodate up to 12 people, but for an intimate and cozy experience, 8 to 10 guests are perfect. The boat is equipped with a heater, so you can enjoy the interior even on cooler days. Moreover, the large windows provide breathtaking views of the water and the surroundings, making every cruise a unique experience. Step aboard and be enchanted by the charm of this classic vessel!
