A warm welcome to the Netherlands and to Amsterdam. Both for work and in private I have seen quite a lot of the world, so I know what a traveller is looking for: an authentic experience, a good understanding of a place and, above all, a pleasant time. You are cordially invited to join me on one of my tours. They are often a bit off the beaten track and reflect my working experience and interest in architecture, nature, culture, and the spiritual. I know Amsterdam very well and I'll be happy to show you some hidden pearls. Beside Amsterdam the Netherlands has much more to offer: beautiful beaches, traditional fishing villages along the IJsselmeer, a peaceful countryside, interesting waterworks and ten (!) Unesco Heritage sites. I am a freelancer and live on walking distance from Amsterdam Central Station and the Cruise terminal, so I am flexible in starting time and pick up location. My participants praise my enthusiastic and at the same time calm appearance. I am looking forward to your enquiry and please know that I am always willing to adapt a tour to your personal preferences. Come as a client, leave as a friend. Tot ziens! Kyra - Urban planner and landscape architect - Certified tourmanager with ANVR, Dutch Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators. - Tour guiding experience in 15+ countries. - First Aid Diplom Please notice that I don't own a car. If necessary I can rent a car, we can take a taxi or use the excellent public transport. But to be honest: my favourite modes of transport are walking and biking!

As landscape architect I will be happy to show you some amazing Dutch landscapes and waterworks during a two day car tour. We'll discover former fishermen villages, old and new polders and five Unesco World Heritage sites: 1. Grachtengordel (Amsterdam Canals, 17th Century) 2. Stelling van Amsterdam (Defense Line, 1880-1920) 3. Polder de Beemster (1612) 4. Afsluitdijk (enclosure dam between IJsselmeer and Unesco site Waddenzee, 1932) 5. Schokland (former island in new polder, inhabited since 10. 000 BC) Day 1 (The old) Walk along the Amsterdam Canals and drive along De Stelling, De Beemster and IJsselmeer dike (former sea) to the traditional fishermen villages Hoorn, Enkhuizen and Medemblik and end at the Afsluitdijk. Day 2 (The new) Drive through the new polders to Schokland (Unesco-museum), Lelystad (visit Museum Nieuwland) and a walk in the brand new city of Almere. To finalize, I invite you for a 'headbutt', local gin mixed with beer, in a traditional 'brown cafe' in Amsterdam. Are you in?
Day 1: - Pickup at hotel (or other place in Amsterdam) and discuss program - City walk along the Amsterdam canals - Drive along the Stelling van Amsterdam - Drive through De Beemster (Visitor Center) - Drive along Hoorn, Enkhuizen and Medemblik to the Afsluitdijk (optional: visit Wadden Center). - Drive back to Amsterdam or an overnight stay along the way Day 2 - Drive to Schokland (visit museum) - Drive to Lelystad (visit Museum Nieuwland) - Drive to Almere (city tour) - Drive back to Amsterdam for a last drink together. For this tour I'll rent a car. We would safe a lot of driving time if we would stay overnight in a hotel halfway. I'll be happy to make some suggestions.
