Hello, I'm Jan. Welcome to Amsterdam and The Netherlands! I've graduated in public administration at Leiden University. I have a big passion for history since I was a teenager and developed a strong interest in European painting and it's history in the last 15 years. I've been doing tours in and around Amsterdam for over 13 years. After all these years I still discover new things in Amsterdam and find out new things about it's history, which makes it such a great place. I provide tours of Amsterdam, it's surroundings (flower fields in April, countryside, windmills, Brussels). I do tours on foot, on ordinary bikes, on my rickshaw, by minivan and if preferred so in combinations of walking and by boat or minivan. Amsterdam is great and unique. Besides the things most people associate with it, there is a lot else you might not have noticed before or read about. Of course I will customize tours. So if you have specific interests or you would like to combine elements of several tours please let me know and I will make a customized proposal. I'm a traveler myself. I have been traveling to the USA, India, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, Mexico, Egypt, Russia, China and a lot of places in Europe. I'm always curious to discover new places and meet people from all over the world, which is a great advantage of my work. I hope you will enjoy our great, unique city! - 13 years experience with doing tours in and around Amsterdam, on foot, by bike, by rickshaw and by minivan. - I'm graduated in public administration at Leiden University - Licensed to do tours in the Red Light District - I can not provide tours of Anne Frank House, or provide tickets for it. - Taking pictures of women in the red light district is strictly prohibited

Brussels is not that far away as one might think. It's only 2, 5 hours driving from Amsterdam. The highlight of the city is the magnificent Central Square called 'Grote Markt'. After being almost completely destroyed by the French in 1695 an impressive collection of buildings was built around this square in 1696. Besides the impressive cityhall with it's hundreds of statues on it's gable and the neo-gothic so-called Broodhuis opposite to it, there are many spectacularly decorated large houses. Besides these impressive monuments there is a lot of good Belgian Food and of course beer here. Visiting this Central area can be combined with visiting the Museum of Fine Arts (Museum voor Schone Kunsten) with it's Breughel and Rubenscollection. It's possible to visit Antwerp and/or Rotterdam on the way and with a bypass Ghent. Please indicate in case you would like to pass by these cities.
After meeting at your hotel, the CruiseTerminal for sea Cruise ships (PTA), your river cruise ship, airport or any other agreed upon location we drive in 2 hours to Brussels. We will visit the Grote Markt and the surrounding streets there. Depending on your specific preferences we will either visit the Museum voor Fine Arts with it's paintings by Breughel and Rubens, visit the Museum Rene Magritte (Surrealistic Belgian artist), visit the Museum of the History of Brussels, do a small sightseeing tour of Brussels or just relax longer at the Grote Markt. We will eat here, either simple and relatively fast (in case you like to spend time at the Museums) or in a quiet pace in a nice restaurant or on the terrace at the Grote Markt with some Belgian beers (which I can recommand).
