Welcome to Amsterdam! My name is Silvan. Tour guide, artist, birdwatcher, family man. My ancestors were people of West-Frisia (currently the Dutch province of North Holland), denizens of the shores of Zuyderzee, sailors and traders in the Hansa region (the North and Baltic Seas). The ever-present threat of flooding has forced the Dutch to become trailblazers in the field of civil engineering. The Amsterdam city center with its canals, as well as the reclaimed land of Beemster lake, are distinguished as UNESCO world heritage. Overview of your Amsterdam tour

One moment you are eating a stroopwafel with coffee in the bustle of Amsterdam's largest street market in the hip de Pijp area. An hour later you stand face to face with one of the masterpieces by Van Gogh or Rembrandt. After a break in a cosy café, with a view of stately 17th century canal houses, maybe you feel like perusing an antiques shop or book market, or spend time in a medieval chapel. Or perhaps you prefer eating peking duck in chinatown and traversing the red light district? It will be my distinct pleasure to tailor your unique Amsterdam experience.

Your Amsterdam tour itinerary

- Meet at metro stop Central Station (or any other stop) A non-exhaustive list of possible destinations: - De Pijp area, Albert Cuyp market (largest street market in Amsterdam) - Botanical Garden - Portuguese Synagogue - De Waag landmark, medieval city gate - Chinatown - Museum Square (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum. Reservations for these museums have to be made well in advance. See below under "what's extra". ) - Canal belt (antiques shops, flower market, cheese) - Medieval city centre (Begijnhof chapel, artisanal french fries, old style cafes, bookstores) - Goodbye at a metro stop of your choosing
