Nice to meet you! My name is Monique and I’m a true Dutchie, born and raised in the Netherlands. I’ve always lived close to Amsterdam and fell in love with the city as a child. After moving here 25 years ago, it’s still my favorite place in the world. With a background in journalism, I’ve always had a broad curiosity and a love for stories. That’s also what I enjoy about guiding: sharing the anecdotes, details and fun facts that make Amsterdam and everything you see come alive. I love history, culture, architecture and local shops. Yet my biggest passion is the art in the museums, where I have been guiding almost daily in the past years. I also have a special interest in the Jewish history in Amsterdam, including the WWII and Anne Frank. I’m especially happy when I can make you experience the city the best way. Whether you’re looking for a deep understanding of the city or a museum, or just the special spots and highlights, all is possible. Over the past 11 years, I’ve guided many different guests on all kinds of private tours through Amsterdam. Therefore I can easily customize a tour for you. Many tours can also be combined into a half-day or full-day experience, for example a city walk with a museum visit, or a day full of art, history, local life and local tastings along the way. You’re very welcome to tell me what you’d like to explore, even if it’s not mentioned on my profile page. I’m happy to create a special itinerary for you. I have: *Bachelors degree in Journalism *Experienced tour guide (11 years) * License to guide in Amsterdam City Center *Official guide in the Rijksmuseum *Official guide in the Van Gogh Museum Just to mention: I do also guide in the smaller villages / countryside around Amsterdam. I’m not a driver though. But if you wish to, I can arrange a driver for us.

On this 3 hour tour I will give you both the feel, flavour and understanding of the Medieval and 17th Century Amsterdam We will start in the Jordaan area where we will make a stop for the famous Dutch Apple pie. After this you will see the most beautiful canals of Amsterdam, where we'll also pass by the Anne Frank House. After crossing the vibrant 9 Little Streets, you will be surprised by the oldest inner courtyard of the city. More foodie options are available here: think of local fish, the exquisite Flemish fries, Cheese and of course a freshly baked Dutch Stroopwafel. The tour will end in the very centre on Dam Square where you can find the Royal Palace and National Monument. From here you can easily walk through the Red Light District. I will give you some recommendations for some old quirky or traditional bars in the area for a coffee or drink afterwards.
- Picturesque Jordaan area - Try the famous Dutch Apple Pie - The Canal Belt (World Unesco Heritage) - Anne Frank House (Outside) - Houseboats - Nine Little Streets - the Beguinage (special inner courtyard) - My favourite cheese shop - Dam Square with the Royal Palace in the very heart of the city
