Overview of your Amsterdam tour

A full-day tour where we first explore the famous weekly cheese market of Alkmaar (Friday). Alkmaar is famous for its historic cheese markets and during summer, you get to see the tradition brought alive. Alkmaar is not just about cheese. The city is much older than Amsterdam and boasts historic town squares and monumental buildings. During the second half, we will visit the Golden Age city of Hoorn or De Rijp along with some lesser-known rural windmills.

Your Amsterdam tour itinerary

Meet and greet at the hotel. Alkmaar: A small picturesque town that got its city right back in the 13th century. Surrounded by beautiful city canals on its border, the city is home to 400 monumental buildings. Every Friday, between March and September, the town hosts a cheese market dating back several centuries. You get to see windmills, old weighing houses, merchant homes, and the famous courtyards. Drive to Hoorn, the city of the Golden Age. I will take you across the city of Hoorn including the Old City centre, and the historic square and we will visit some of the monumental buildings associated with both the East and West India Company. Visit the lovely harbour and the famous West Frisian Museum. As an alternative to Hoorn, we can offer De Rijp a small but very charming village famous for old monumental buildings, and canal houses with a wooden facade.
