Hello, I'm Jan. Welcome to Amsterdam and The Netherlands! I've graduated in public administration at Leiden University. I have a big passion for history since I was a teenager and developed a strong interest in European painting and it's history in the last 15 years. I've been doing tours in and around Amsterdam for over 13 years. After all these years I still discover new things in Amsterdam and find out new things about it's history, which makes it such a great place. I provide tours of Amsterdam, it's surroundings (flower fields in April, countryside, windmills, Brussels). I do tours on foot, on ordinary bikes, on my rickshaw, by minivan and if preferred so in combinations of walking and by boat or minivan. Amsterdam is great and unique. Besides the things most people associate with it, there is a lot else you might not have noticed before or read about. Of course I will customize tours. So if you have specific interests or you would like to combine elements of several tours please let me know and I will make a customized proposal. I'm a traveler myself. I have been traveling to the USA, India, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, Mexico, Egypt, Russia, China and a lot of places in Europe. I'm always curious to discover new places and meet people from all over the world, which is a great advantage of my work. I hope you will enjoy our great, unique city! - 13 years experience with doing tours in and around Amsterdam, on foot, by bike, by rickshaw and by minivan. - I'm graduated in public administration at Leiden University - Licensed to do tours in the Red Light District - I can not provide tours of Anne Frank House, or provide tickets for it. - Taking pictures of women in the red light district is strictly prohibited

This tour is meant for giving you an impression of the 17th century highdays of the city. It's a combination of sightseeing by rickshaw and visiting the National Museum with its many 17th century masterpieces of art. We start touring around the famous canal belt of Amsterdam with it's characteristic combination of wide canals, typical 17th and 18th century canal houses, boathouses and numerous parked bicycles. If your ability of walking allows we will make a short walk as well to visit Begijnhof-courtyard and Civic Guards Gallery with it's impressive paintings. We will stop at Rijksmuseum to have a break and do a 2, 5 hours tour of its many 17th century highlights. I think without seeing these, your tour of Amsterdam is incomplete!
We will tour around the historical center of Amsterdam for around 2 to 3 hours (dependent on how long you like the break to be) We pass by many scenic spots in the historic heart of Amsterdam: - Picturesque canal views - The Museum Square - The Seven Bridges - Amstel River - Skinny bridge - Wester Church Tower - Anne Frankhuis - Holocaust Memorial - Rembrandt square - Nieuwmarkt. In case your walking abilities allow I will take you out of the rickshaw and you will experience everything in a different way. We make stops at either the Palace on DamSquare or Rembrandthuis (1 hour) and either Rijksmuseum or Hermitage Amsterdam (2 hours) to get to see an impressive classic 17th-century interior and to come close-up with many beautiful, impressive and historically interesting 17th century masterpieces
