Ciao and welcome to Genoa! My name is Loredana, I have been working for a long time as tour manager for tours throughout Europe and in 2004 I became an authorized local guide for Genova and its surroundings. I love my city for so many reasons. . . the history, the character of the people - not all Italians are alike! - the feeling that this is still an authentic place where you have a surprise at every corner. I love the monuments, of course, the beautiful elegant palaces part of the UNESCO heritage since 2006, as well as the ancient shops still proudly run by the same families that opened them maybe 100 or even 200 years ago. You really need to lose yourself in the alleys of the old city, the largest medieval center in Europe. There is always something to discover in "the vertical city" that was once a powerful Republic and is now one of the main ports in the Mediterranean. In the surroundings, in less than 1-hour drive you can reach the Riviera: Santa Margherita Ligure, Portofino, Camogli: in the past fishing villages, today fascinating towns displayed along the coast like gems under the Mediterranean sun. All my tours can be customized according to your preferences. Please do not hesitate to ask! My credentials: - CAE Certificate - Cambridge 1996 - tour manager on European tours since 1996 - licensed local guide in Genoa and surrounding area since 2003 - 3-year experience in local tour operator (back office)

We will take a walk down the oldest medieval city center in Europe, to explore the highlights as well as some of the historical shops. The Genoese are not fond of large department stores, on the contrary, they prefer the "one of a kind" small shops. The local Chamber of Commerce, in order to preserve this enormous patrimony, has established the register of the ancient shops, "Botteghe storiche". They have to meet some requirements such as architectural elements conservation, original antique furniture and still functioning equipment, documentation that proves the history of the shop and its environmental context. A walk through the old town will allow you to take a look to the many goods on display in the windows of confectioneries, barber shops, pharmacies, chocolate shops, tailors, textiles, antique bookshops, shoe shops, and when possible we will enter for a short visit; at the end of the tour, before going back to the designated point, we will stop by a chocolate shop to take away a small souvenir.
- meet at the designated point and start our walk in the old town - stop by some of the old shops - according to opening times and seasonality - enter and visit, with a short introduction inside the shop, whenever possible - stop by one of the old chocolate shops and pick up a package for you to take away as a souvenir - walk back to the designated point and end of the tour
