Hello! My name is Fabrizia, I was born in Genoa and I am a licensed tour guide from 2012. I work and study with devotion to discover the unusual aspects of my city, viewed from a different perspective. I have a Master's Degree in Slavic Languages and Literatures (Polish and Russian). I studied several years abroad: in the nineties I spent almost ten years living abroad in Russia, Poland and Israel. When I came back to Genoa, in early 2000, my growing interest for arts and local history, along with a deep interest in working with people, let me focalize on studying jobs united with tourism. I studied once again at university, this time Art History and Local History. From 2012, when I became a licensed tour guide, I was involved with several projects pertaining the artistic heritage of Genoa, including the Festival of Poetry, the Festival of Science, and tours relating to the Genoese monumental cemetery of Staglieno. Since I love to travel with my family, I also realized several family-friendly tours. Throughout my years of humanistic studies, I have developed a passion for Jewish culture. For this reason, I have realized a project called "Genoa Unveiled" dedicated to Genoese Jewish cultural sites. Hope to see you soon in Genoa and to show you the treasures of my beautiful city! Genoa is a city to explore rather than to visit, and not all its artisan workshops and studios are listed in the guides or on Internet sites. I will guide you through the beautiful historic centre and share my ideal shopping route with you: clothes, shoes, leather bags and much more. Note: this tour is not available on Sundays, Monday mornings or in August, when almost all shops are closed for summer holidays!
Your Genoa tour itinerary
Starting from a strategic meeting point, I will guide you along the labyrinth of the old centre, showing you the historic centre on foot. We will not miss: - the gothic façade of our cathedral of San Lorenzo - the Palace of the Doge. - the Soprana Medieval Gate - Christopher Columbus's house - the modern Piazza De Ferrari square. We will then walk through the steep and narrow medieval alleys, called Genoese caruggi, and we will experience the best shopping locations nearby. If you are interested in upscale fashion brands, we will find them in the fashion district in the modern centre, near Piazza De Ferrari. If you are interested in skilled artisan products and smaller studios where locals shop regularly, I will take with you off the beaten track and you will find hand-made clothes, shoes, purses, jewellery, antiques, crockery and kids' and vintage clothing.
