We will explore the historic centre just in front of the old port area discovering the intense and deep beauty of the devotional marble statues (called "Madonnette") situated at the crossroads of the narrow Genovese alleys. Church hours permitting, this walking tour also includes visits to: - the gothic cathedral of Saint Lorenzo - the Baroque Chiesa del Gesù (Jesus' name Church) where we will admire tow Rubens' paintings - Palazzo Ducale and its Grimaldina Tower - the steep and narrow alleys of the old city called "caruggi" - some of the most beautiful facades of the private noble palaces which are UNESCO's heritage Included in the tour, I will offer you another speciality of Genoa, which is not an art masterpiece but a real delight: the incredible salty flavor of our local bread, focaccia, which we will taste in one of the traditional bakeries.
