Ciao and welcome to Genoa! My name is Loredana, I have been working for a long time as tour manager for tours throughout Europe and in 2004 I became an authorized local guide for Genova and its surroundings. I love my city for so many reasons. . . the history, the character of the people - not all Italians are alike! - the feeling that this is still an authentic place where you have a surprise at every corner. I love the monuments, of course, the beautiful elegant palaces part of the UNESCO heritage since 2006, as well as the ancient shops still proudly run by the same families that opened them maybe 100 or even 200 years ago. You really need to lose yourself in the alleys of the old city, the largest medieval center in Europe. There is always something to discover in "the vertical city" that was once a powerful Republic and is now one of the main ports in the Mediterranean. In the surroundings, in less than 1-hour drive you can reach the Riviera: Santa Margherita Ligure, Portofino, Camogli: in the past fishing villages, today fascinating towns displayed along the coast like gems under the Mediterranean sun. All my tours can be customized according to your preferences. Please do not hesitate to ask! My credentials: - CAE Certificate - Cambridge 1996 - tour manager on European tours since 1996 - licensed local guide in Genoa and surrounding area since 2003 - 3-year experience in local tour operator (back office)

Genova, Genoa, the Superb, the vertical city. . . a stunning yet unknown city impossible to summarize in a few words. Should I choose a definition, that would be the "spontaneous city", that's how this unplanned town developed its unique layout through the many centuries of its history. Genoa is also known to be the birthplace of Christopher Colombus, who lived here his early years before attempting his adventures overseas. Let us discover the bustling life of the historic center in a walking tour along the picturesque alleys, the narrow "caruggi". The old port is so very close, full of charming views. Palaces, fountains, churches, historical shops, a thousands aromas of the city: the old town has small houses one next to the other and is crossed by narrow pedestrian streets, at every street corner a surprise pops up! Last, but not least, a taste of local specialties: a slice of "focaccia" bread and a cone with the local ice cream, "panera" will introduce you to the simple yet tasty local food.
- Pick up from agreed location and drive to Boccadasse: considered one of the city's most picturesque districts. - Stop for a picture and maybe a stroll down the beach following a short ancient mule track. - Walk down to the "Strada Nuova", to admire some of the many Palaces - today UNESCO heritage - built by the wealthiest families in the XVIc and XVII c. - Continue the walk to the Piazza de Ferrari, the heart of the modern city, with its iconic fountain surrounded by interesting architectures: Opera House, Doge's Palace and New Stock Exchange. - Stop by Porta Soprana, one of the gates of the medieval city, with the adjacent house of Chistopher Columbus, and continue downhill to the Cathedral of St. Laurence - Reach the area of the Old Port with the Aquarium; stop shortly for tastings of focaccia bread and panera ice cream. The "Lanterna", lighthouse symbol of Genoa, is visible in the distance. - Board the private minivan and drive back to the agreed destination.
