Hi everybody! My name is Francesca and I live in Genoa (Genova in Italian!), where I was born. I have a degree in Geology and licenses as a city guide and hiking guide. I worked for an oilfield company for few years long time ago, but I am working as a guide already since 30 years and collaborate with TBL since more than 10 years! I am always enthusiastic to meet new people and to involve them in the knowledge of my native region, Liguria. I like meeting new guests, walking with them, telling them about the nature and the history. . . cooking with them!! I am specialized in Genoa, but also in the Italian Riviera (Portofino, Camogli, Monterosso and many hidden little towns!)... Do you like to discover more about you ancestors in Liguria? Let me know, we can plan a research with a genealogist! Do you like to learn about the real ingredients for authentic local recipes, like pesto or focaccia genovese? We can go together to the market! Do you like to visit a private palace with incredible painted ceilings and great facilities?...why not? We can easily plan a customized tour: I am a certified, but I am not a driver, so I can arrange a vehicle if required or a cooking class or a tasting! Francesca

The monumental cemetery of Staglieno is the main burial site in Genoa and one of the most important monumental mausoleums in Europe. I have been doing the tour for 8 years: the thing I like most are the shapes of the marble statues looking real. You can really imagine how this people looked like more than 2 centuries ago and read the symbols in the sculptures. The cemetery has a special importance to the city, because many families left an eternal memory of themselves. Mainly for their grandchildren, who come back to Italy from America! Still today most of the Genoa families, like mine, has a tomb in this "immortal city". The mausoleum is located in the valley of the Bisagno River and so many "sons" of the history of Genova and Italy are buried here: Giuseppe Mazzini and Michele Novaro, patriots during the Unification of Italy, the actor Gilberto Govi, the singer Fabrizio De André, Constance Lloyd (wife of Oscar Wilde) and many others.
- Our day starts in the centre of Genova (we take a bus or a taxi to Staglieno, the area where in the XIX century the huge cemetery was built. - In about 30 minutes we will reach the site. - The tour starts in the oldest "gallerie" where the main Genoese families built their tombs to remember mothers, fathers and all the other relatives who passed away, through monumental statues. - We will pass by the main church, called Pantheon. - We will continue to the area of Protestants, Jewish people, Evangelists and not only Italians but people, famous or not, from all over Europe. - At the end, again by bus or by taxi, we will go back to Genoa downtown.
