Buongiorno! My name is Paola, I am a licensed tourist guide for Genova and the surrounding areas. I was born and bred in Genova, but I lived in England for over 10 years and that is where I have learned my English. I also speak Spanish and French. And Italian of course ! I have spent all of my working career in the tourism world, working for a tour operator, for a major airline and as a tour leader in Italy and other parts of the world. When I decided to move back to Genova, my hometown, I fell in love with it all over again. The more I learned about its history and art, the more I liked it. I decided to take the exams to became a professional guide and since I got my qualification in 2006 I have been working as a licensed tourist guide. While studying to became a guide, I developed a great interest in all forms of art, from classic to street art and I know that I am fortunate to live in a country that offers so many art opportunities at almost every corner. I am a passionate Vespa scooter rider and an animal lover, with a soft spot for cats. I am also fond of cooking and food in general. Like most Italians, I have learned from my mum, my unties and my grandmothers, all formidable cooks. I would be more than happy to how you many of the art and architecture wonders of the city but also to share with you some of my favorite places where you can taste the delights of the local cuisine and learn more about the culture of the country. I like to shop local, to support the small shop or market stall, I firmly believe in this and during my tours, while visiting art and monuments, I always make sure that you will meet some of the wonderful people who run these small but vital businesses, food is such a wonderful way to get people together. I can guarantee enjoyment, dedication and cultural enrichment. I am an open and curios persona, I love to talk and share experiences about life in our countries and to offer a friendly and genuine experience. I have been running this tour for a long time and I love it Follow me through the narrow streets of the old town, Genova has one of the largest historic centres in Europe, in part a UNESCO site. I will show you some of its many hidden gems: whether is a tucked away church with wonderful frescos, a tiny shop where artisanal chocolate is made from more than 150 years or the picturesque tiny square "of The Perfect Love". You will discover little treasures as we go by and of course, we won't miss some of the highlights of the city, such as the stunning Cathedral of San Lorenzo, the Ducal Palace (Government building for about 500 years), Via Garibaldi, the street of the Renaissance, Porta Soprana, one of the gates of the city erected in the XII century, the house of Christopher Columbus and the Porto Antico area. Paola is a fantastic guide. For first time visitors to Genoa, she was able to give us a great history lesson of this amazing city in a manner that was fun as well as informative. We covered a lot of ground, but did not feel rushed or overwhelmed. She gave us lots of local advice as far as restaurants and other sites we might want to see in the several days we would remain in Genoa. Her English is as perfect as she is!
Paola was terrific. We were able to explore the historic City and walk to the Port on this the second day of our tour with her. The tour built on the historical information from the first day and was fascinating. We visited the Cathedral and the S. Augustino museum and picked up great details of the Genoa's heritage from Roman to present times. We highly recommend visiting Genoa with Paola as a guide.
The tour was terrific! Paola brought Genoa to life. She was friendly, knowledgeable and gave us great insight into this historic city. We particularly enjoyed her candid comments about many of the social situations in Italy and all of Europe. We highly recommend her.

Our tour of Genova was the highlight of our week long cruise. Paola did a great job of adapting and pacing the day to meet our needs and requests. We never felt rushed but we were amazed by how much she was able to show us in a just a few hours.
