Hi everybody! My name is Francesca and I live in Genoa (Genova in Italian!), where I was born. I have a degree in Geology and licenses as a city guide and hiking guide. I worked for an oilfield company for few years long time ago, but I am working as a guide already since 30 years and collaborate with TBL since more than 10 years! I am always enthusiastic to meet new people and to involve them in the knowledge of my native region, Liguria. I like meeting new guests, walking with them, telling them about the nature and the history. . . cooking with them!! I am specialized in Genoa, but also in the Italian Riviera (Portofino, Camogli, Monterosso and many hidden little towns!)... Do you like to discover more about you ancestors in Liguria? Let me know, we can plan a research with a genealogist! Do you like to learn about the real ingredients for authentic local recipes, like pesto or focaccia genovese? We can go together to the market! Do you like to visit a private palace with incredible painted ceilings and great facilities?...why not? We can easily plan a customized tour: I am a certified, but I am not a driver, so I can arrange a vehicle if required or a cooking class or a tasting! Francesca

Overview of your Genoa tour

Genoa is a seaside city, but the influence of the countryside and of the rustic products of the land has always had a fundamental role for the local dishes and typical recipes. In the old town we still have many old shops and an unbelievable food market with all the seasonal vegetables, fruits, nuts and more: you can buy food, taste it or simply enjoy the colors and the aromas or simply take photos of the everyday life of the local people. Each Italian region has so many traditions: can you believe that pesto sauce and focaccia were born in Genoa, but each family and bakery make them a little different? Would you like to taste some of the best local olives and most delicate ExtraVirgin olive oil? NB the tour cannot be bought on Sundays and Holiday days and on Wednesday afternoon!

We can't say enough great things about Francesca! From the very beginning she was incredibly flexible. Francesca is outgoing, upbeat and we connected with her immediately. The weather was extremely warm, so she modified our tour to include exactly what we wanted with the assistance of a driver. The highlight of our Genoa tour was the restaurant she choose for lunch (which actually had ties to Frank Sinatra's family) and we shared the most delicious cuisine. Trofie al Pesto was a favorite! Francesca knows her stuff! Bonnie & Betty from San Francisco

Francesca was wonderful!!! We had a delicious, informative, fun day. One of our group is disabled, using a wheelchair and Francesca went out of her way to make sure everywhere we went was acessable for the wheelchair and her driver Marco was very helpful getting the chair in and out of the van. All of the food stops were delicious, and along the way we got a great history lesson about Genoa. I would absolutely reccomend her as a guide and wish we could have spent more time with her.

I cannot be positive enough about Francesca! We were a group of nine friends traveling in Liguria and we spent three days with Francesca, touring Genova and doing wine, cheese and olive oil tastings. We enjoy see the local side of things along with learning about the history and culture of the area we are in; Francesca covered all of those needs effortlessly, from sharing the unique history of Genova, to introducing us to a cheesemaker and his heard of thirty-five sheep. She was a total pleasure!

Francesca was extremely friendly and accommodating. The weather was not so great but that did not stop Francesca from providing excellent service. I would have missed quite a lot about Genova without Francesca's knowledge. Highly recommended.

Francesca was so friendly and accommodating and patient. She was vibrant and informative and fun too. We had such a good time and learned the most interesting things. She tailored our experience for our fitness level and we loved the challenge but were given lots of opportunity to take an easier option at any time. Francesca coordinated a cooking class and dovetailed the tour w/ the class. The class was amazing. Genoa is a tricky little city. I wouldn't do it without a guide and Francesca is tops!

Francesca made our trip to Genova absolutely stupendous. She took us through the streets of old Genova, showing us things we wouldn't have found in a tour book. She took us to a pest shop, showed us the butcher, fishmonger, and tripe shop, all providing local flavor (literally). The icing on the pannetone was the cooking class at Creattivando. The hosts were lovely, and we had so much fun cooking pesto and cappo magro. I highly recommend a tour with her.

Your Genoa tour itinerary

An itinerary that I often do on my own to enjoy all I would like to transmit about my city and my land!. 1. I will meet you at your hotel, at the cruise port or at the train station 2. the tour starts in the ancient town, through the narrow lanes, the high buildings and the medieval facades, where most of the pastry, chocolate and gelato shops are located, without omitting the several bakeries, making focaccia, plain and with onions, and several kinds of bread! 3. a huge fountain divide Genova in two "different" cities, two faces of the same beauty: the monumental Genova of the XIX century hides the "Mercato Orientale", a real delight for everybody who like food and traditions 4. there will be many tastings during the tour, ending at the market with the local wine or simply with a good italian coffee!
