Welcome to Bahia, the Land of Happiness! ☀️🌴 “Sorria, você está na Bahia!” — Smile, you’re in Bahia! I’m Sayuri, a proud Soteropolitana—born and raised in Salvador, Bahia—and a Brazilian Black Asian (Blasian) tour guide. I absolutely love my hometown, and I love sharing it with travelers through experiences that go beyond the usual tourist attractions. As a licensed national and South American tour guide, I create experiences throughout Salvador and Bahia, including destinations such as Cachoeira (Reconcavo Baiano - birthplace of Samba de Roda), Morro de São Paulo, Boipeba, Praia do Forte (Turtle Sanctuary - TAMAR) and more. Salvador is often called “Black Rome” because of the strength and richness of its African heritage. In my tours, I love exploring this history and culture through music, food, literature, religion, neighborhoods, architecture and—most importantly—the people who make Salvador what it is. I also believe that traveling should benefit the local community. Whenever possible, my tours support small local businesses and independent producers, while still including the iconic places you came all the way to Bahia to see. 🌎 Virtual tours from Brazil In 2020, virtual tourism opened a whole new world for me. I discovered that it was possible to share Salvador with people anywhere in the world—even when they couldn't travel here themselves. Since then, I’ve hosted virtual experiences for students, families, groups of friends and seniors, and I’m especially passionate about my live-streamed tours of Salvador’s Old Town and my Musical Experience in Black Rome. 🍴 Culture, food & stories My experiences are also inspired by my love of Brazilian travel, literature, music and gastronomy. I was a coordinator of Comida di Buteco in Salvador, a popular Brazilian food festival, which gave me an even deeper connection to the city's food scene and local entrepreneurs. Whether we are walking through the historic center, discovering Afro-Brazilian heritage, tasting local food, listening to music or exploring Salvador after dark, I want you to experience the city with someone who genuinely lives and loves it. If you’re looking for the Salvador beyond the postcard, I’d especially recommend my Afro Heritage Tour and my exclusive evening/night experiences, where you can experience Salvador’s nightlife like a local. I’m also happy to share my personal Salvador Guidebook, filled with my recommendations for places to eat, visit and explore. 📅 Planning your trip? I highly recommend booking in advance so I can help you plan your time in Bahia. Even if my calendar appears unavailable, please send me a message! Sometimes I have a half-day available or can arrange a tour during the day or evening. Come explore Bahia with a Sotero(a)—a real local from Salvador. I’ll show you the city I know, love and call home. “Minha vida é andar por este país / Pra ver se um dia descanso feliz…” — A Vida do Viajante, Luiz Gonzaga About me Licensed Tour Guide — Embratur / Ministry of Tourism Tour Guide — SENAC Bahia Graduate in Literature & English, Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA) Former lawyer — Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, São Paulo National & South American tour guide Born and raised in Salvador, Bahia Come to Bahia—and let a Soteropolitana show you around. ❤️

Overview of your Salvador tour

Welcome to Salvador! If you are a lucky person and your cruise will stay for a couple of hours or one night stand in Salvador, Bahia you won't regret it. Our Cruise terminal is just walking distance from the historical center, with lots of options for your nightlife and day tour. The Cruise Terminal in Bahia is in a very special location, just by the Elevador Lacerda (the first commercial elevator in the world - 1873). If you have low mobility or if during the summer it is too hot to walk, I suggest that we hire a driver (extra cost). Salvador is the first Portuguese Colonial Capital of Brazil with some of the oldest streets in Brazil (World Heritage) and also a Creative Musical City of Unesco Have fun and book your tour in Salvador. Best Regards, Sayuri

We enjoyed a fantastic tour with Sayuri. She was very flexible in creating our tour and it was a perfect mix of famous sights, highlights and some lesser known spots in the area. Sayuri provided her broad spectrum of knowledge and insights and she understood to transfer it in a very enriching way. Afterwards she summarized all steps of tour and included some additional video links referring to places we have visited. She truly went the "extra mile" and we can highly recommend her as your guide.

Ha estat una visita curta en vaixell a Salvador, Sayuri ens ho ha fet molt facil, sap com aprofitar el temps evitant cues o esperes inecessaries. Comunica i sap molt be la historia i curiositats que interesen als visitans. Un agraiment tambe a la amabilitat del xofer. Ens emportem un gran record de Salvador. Gracies per tot !

We had an excellent tour in Salvador with our guide Sayuri. She programmed our tour so we hit the highlights of Salvador when tourists are least expected to be visiting . We started in the lower city visiting Barra and getting a blessing in Bonfim . We then finished in Pelourinho in the afternoon. This way, we avoided the crowds and we felt we were the only ones visiting . Our tour was relaxed , pleasant and enjoyable. We never felt rushed. She also considered our interests so we saw what we wanted. Sayuri is very knowledgeable of the history of Salvador. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to visit Salvador, Brazil.

Sayuri created a one day tour of Salvador for us that gave us an overview of the city, a great history lesson and an appreciation for the black culture that is so important here. She planned the tour around weather and crowds and incorporated some local stops that were very special (tile painter, local market and local food). Our driver Fabio was excellent.

Sayuri is a very interesting person who has traveled extensively. She loves her home city of Salvador and will give you a very individualized experience. We enjoyed our day with her - learned some history and tried the local food. It was a great experience and we look forward to future tours by locals.

Your Salvador tour itinerary

It is also possible to do a HALF DAY TOUR (4 hours in town) - The itinerary can be adapted to traveller's interests: do not hesitate to contact me for a customized experience. Suggestion: 1. Pick up at Port Area (it is very close to the Old Town/Pelourinho). I suggest a walking tour in the Old Town 2. Walking Tour- Pelourinho, Mercado Modelo (option). Our most famous area in town, full of cultural atractions and music during the summer season. 3. Driving to Barra - visit the Oldest Lighthouse in Brazil and one of the oldests in the Americas (Farol da Barra). Also an option for drink or snack/lunch. 4. Cidade Baixa - This is one of my favourite areas to visit with the blessing of Senhor do Bonfim, stop in our most famous Ice-cream shop and Panoramic View of the Bay of All Saints.
