Gabriela was a delight and we had such a good time with her. She really gave us a good overview of the city, the improvements the’ve made and more. It’s really hard to even choose one things we liked over others. We went to a local market, not an artisan market, but where and she shops for groceries. Met a kind lady, and expat, that had us taste jack fruit. Yum! Then we went to see the goddess of the sea and learn about her. Lunch was so good! A small family run place that overlooked the sea. The food was amazing and the drink - we only had one- cause she cautioned us not to have more….. Then we went to the contemporary art museum and loved the exhibition that was there. We had a sweet experience with a young girl who wanted to know how to improve her English. This tour was a highlight of our trip. I totally would recommend Gabriela!

We really enjoyed our second tour with Gabriela. She showed us different sides of Bahaian culture than when we saw the old part of the upper city 16 months ago. From the fishermen and the Candomble tributes to goddesses of salt water and fresh water to the mercado at Rio Vermelho with all sorts of local foods from Mel de cacao from a farmers cooperative to coffee with cardamom to artisan chocolate and many kinds of fruit and even a stall with everything needed to make Candomble offerings. We got good perspectives on the history of Salvador, the juxtaposition of old and new, rich and poor, as well as some ideas of the effects of Africans in Brazilian culture. We loved our lunch in the community looking out over the bay and trying local specialties. An excellent tour. We will ask Gabriela again if we return to Salvador.

Gabriela brought an authentic perspective to this tour. She has a deep regard for the local religions that she was able to convey. It was very educational. By request, we visited two different markets and appreciated their commonalities and differences. It was evident that Salvador is a city full of art, spirituality, and joy from this tour. We would not have understood the richness of the city without her guidance.

This was a great day out with Gabriela, went to the market, talked to the locals and had a fantastic lunch by the sea in Gamboa. I learnt a lot of things about Salvador and had a lot of fun. Gabriela is very friendly and knowledgeable about Salvador and it's people. She is also flexible in her approach and always happy to give good advice.
