Carlos was great. Since we had a prior tour that covered a portion of his tour, he modified our itinerary with him to reduce overlap. In addition, weekend traffic further changed our plans. Through it all, Carlos adapted on the fly. We had a wonderful time with him, learning about everyday life in Brazil and Salvador, as well as Carnivale. I highly recommend taking a tour from Carlos.
We had an excellent day touring Salvador with Carlos. His attention to detail really stood out—he thoughtfully explained the history and significance of each stop while keeping the pace relaxed and enjoyable. Highlights included the stunning panoramic views of the Mont Serrat Fort, as well as the meaningful visit to Bonfim Church. Carlos also did a wonderful job bringing the city’s cultural layers to life, especially as we explored the Upper City and walked through the Old City, including the Basilica Cathedral and Saint Francis Church. Beyond his knowledge, Carlos is genuinely friendly, approachable, and clearly passionate about Salvador. He was always attentive to our comfort, flexible with timing, and happy to answer questions. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide and would highly recommend Carlos to anyone wanting a well-rounded, engaging, and seamless experience in Salvador.
Carlos was a great guide. Personable and informative. Very good English. He gave us a great day in Salvador. Salvador is an interesting City and the use of Carlos’s car allowed us to view the whole bay area then a walking tour of the upper town with a great meal.

This tour was our introduction to Brazil and Salvador in particular. We had a great experience with Carlos whose knowledge and itinerary provided everything we have come to expect from a “Tours by Locals” tour and more. Look no further than Carlos for an informative and enjoyable day.
• We will start our tour at Farol da Barra, where we will enjoy the spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean and the entrance to the bay. • Then, we will make our way up Ladeira da Barra, where we will reach the upscale neighbourhood of Vitoria. • Making our way down to the Lower City, we will drive through Salvador's old financial center towards the world renowned Bonfim Church. • On the way, we will go to Ponta de Humaitá and stop at the Mont Serrat Fort, where we will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Salvador. • We will then head to Dique do Tororó, where we will appreciate the famous sculptures of the Orixás (African Deities) and we will see the soccer stadium, Arena Fonte Nova. • We will then reach the top of the Upper City, where the Portuguese built the first capital of Brazil, similar to an acropolis. At this point we will provide free time for lunch. • We will then walk in the Old City and visit the Basilica Cathedral and several squares. This tour can be customized.
