I’m Brandon, a born-and-raised Philly local who built a civic association pro-bono project while I was in my Masters program. After about 1,001 dog walks through my neighbourhood of Society Hill, I realized most tours were skipping the city’s most charming cobblestone streets and telling a Revolution story that felt more Boston than Philadelphia. So I mapped a “Philly Special” route that started at our oldest tavern, winding through Society Hill, and ending where the Declaration was first read at Independence Square. This route actually has the most picturesque photo opportunities of any tour offered in Philadelphia, with multiple colonial-coded areas to immortalize your trip that day and continue sharing afterwards. I’ve studied colonial history and city planning at Penn and Drexel, but don’t worry, I won't be delivering a facts-only lecture. On my tours, you’ll experience the Revolution through the people who actually lived it: printers, artisans, merchants, clergy, doctors, lawyers and builders, and I’ll connect the drama to the streets you’re standing on. And because you’re in Philly, you’ll also leave with the real local intel: from the best cheesesteaks to the coziest BYOBs and a few “not on the lists” spots you’ll want to revisit!

On this tour, we'll go through a local route I curated to highlight what everyday life was like in early Philadelphia. We'll be walking across the Old City and Colonial Society Hill, one of the city’s most beautiful and overlooked historic neighbourhoods. We'll also see some of the oldest pubs in the city, where the past still feels close at hand. Along the way, I will draw on my studies at the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University to discuss the American Revolution through the lives of everyday Philadelphians. We will talk about how artisans, printers, merchants, clergymen and builders gave shape to "We the People" through debates where they each shared their ideas. And since you’re in Philly, I’ll also share a few local tips on where to eat and drink during your stay.
-After meeting at A Man Full of Trouble Tavern (Philadelphia’s oldest remaining pub), we'll stroll through Colonial Society Hill's cobblestone streets, past beautifully preserved 18th-century homes along a -Afterwards, we'll pass by the City Tavern which dates back to the late 1700s. -Next, we'll see the location of the print shop of Thomas Paine (one of our country's Founding Fathers). -Later, we'll reach the peaceful Benjamin Rush Garden where we'll stop for pictures and contemplate the Bicentennial Bell. -We'll then visit Carpenters’ Hall (if it happens to be open on the day/time you booked), which served as a temporary home for the Second Bank of the United States. -Following this, we'll visit the Independence National Historical Park, where the Declaration of Independence was first read. -We'll conclude the tour at Kyber Pass Pub, one of Philadelphia’s oldest.
