I am passionate about American History, and am excited to share the large, immersive, outdoor classroom of Center City Philadelphia with you. I am a former Professor of Early American History, a docent at Carpenters Hall, a volunteer with the Independence Historic Trust, and a Research Fellow of the First Continental Congress. I have been a volunteer guide at Powel House, Washingtons Crossing, Moland House, and Laurel Hill Cemetary. I believe that the story of our country is built upon the people, the stories, and the struggles of our founders. I thrive on talking about these amazing people, and will be excited to show the specific sites that define our past. I also believe that an awesome tour stays with you forever. I promise not to download dozens of dates and facts that will be forgotten in a few days. My goal is to amaze you with the stories that teach, explain, and instill you with the same pride that I feel every time I walk through this most amazing city. Mark was an absolutely amazing guide!! He has a foundation in American History that added to the knowledge he provided us about the art in the Museum with an enthusiastic and contagious love of it. We had booked him for 3 hours and he tailored the tour to our likes while the time just flew by. I couldn’t recommend him any more strongly and hope to be able to book him for a history tour next time we are in the City.

Mark's "scene setting" throughout the museum and his enthusiasm for the art around the Founding made this additional day (after completing Mark's Philadelphia tour the day before) even more fun! We knew about Rocky, but loved seeing George Washington on his horse and Joan of Arc! Wow! Mark had our family's rapt attention for the entire museum tour. Loved, loved, loved spending time with Mark and wish we could have made it all last longer! If you are coming to the Philadelphia area for the 250th or just a few days to explore, I highly recommend Mark. He is so knowledgable of U.S. history and art, but it's his stories of the people and personalities that make it all come alive. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our museum tour with Mark. His enthusiasm and pride in the museum were infectious. We have walked through this museum before, but there are so many facts and details that go unnoticed until you have a tour by Mark. His knowledge and historical narrative made it exciting to see what was around each corner.
