I have lived and worked in the Philadelphia region all of my life and have always been passionate about promoting Philadelphia's unique history. After taking early retirement from DOD, I developed my "2nd Act" as a tour guide and found a true calling. 18th century history has been my love since I was a child. Working in Philadelphia allows me to continue discovering our nation's beginnings. I have been guiding for nearly 12 years and it has proven to be a wonderful opportunity to interact with visitors from here and across the world. I consider myself a Philadelphia ambassador and love to showcase our great city and the surrounding areas. I believe that telling the stories of the people who worked and lived here is the best approach to guiding and will be a more memorable visitor experience. I live now in a unique South Jersey town that had its beginnings started by an 18th century Philadelphian so I love to expand my stories and tours to South Jersey as well. I am happy to customize any of my tours if possible. With only a few hours in Philadelphia, it is understandable that many people miss one of the most desirable neighborhoods in our city. So, if you want to see more than the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, and love wandering through historic neighborhoods, this is your tour! Adjacent to Independence National Historic Park lies the largest concentration of 18th and 19th century homes, buildings and churches in the country. From the River to 4th streets, Walnut to South, we explore this quiet, meticulously planned neighborhood, telling the stories of the people who lived here. As we wind our way to the river, we will also pass by 2 War Memorials (Vietnam and Korean) and the Scottish and Irish monuments. Our tour ends where the city began, Penn's Landing, and depending on the time of year, we can enjoy Philadelphia's waterfront.
During your private walking tour you will get the chance to see so many locations ! - City Tavern - Merchants Exchange Row of 18th Century townhouses - Bishop White and Dolly Todd (Madison) - Old St. Joes - Philadelphia Contributionship - St. Mary's - The Hill Physick House - Old Pine - St. Peters - Thaddeus Kosciuszko House - Powel House - Old St. Paul's - Thomas Paine (Alley) - Society Hill - Man Full of Trouble Tavern - Headhouse Square - South Street - War Memorials - Scottish and Irish Monuments - Penn's Landing and so much more. . . .
