I have lived and worked in the Philadelphia region all of my life and have always been passionate about promoting Philadelphia's unique history. After taking early retirement from DOD, I developed my "2nd Act" as a tour guide and found a true calling. 18th century history has been my love since I was a child. Working in Philadelphia allows me to continue discovering our nation's beginnings. I have been guiding for nearly 12 years and it has proven to be a wonderful opportunity to interact with visitors from here and across the world. I consider myself a Philadelphia ambassador and love to showcase our great city and the surrounding areas. I believe that telling the stories of the people who worked and lived here is the best approach to guiding and will be a more memorable visitor experience. I live now in a unique South Jersey town that had its beginnings started by an 18th century Philadelphian so I love to expand my stories and tours to South Jersey as well. I am happy to customize any of my tours if possible. The NJ Pine Barrens, the largest remaining example of the Atlantic coastal pines' ecosystem, is only a short drive from the city! The Pinelands National Reserve comprises 1. 1 million acres and in 1988 it was designated as an International Biosphere Reserve. This area remains mostly rural and undisturbed and is a peaceful getaway to city life. We will pass through early colonial communities, founded for the iron industry and continue through the blueberry capital of the world on our way to Smithville, a quaint village where we will pause for lunch and plenty of shopping on your own. We will make a final stop at Leeds Point for an amazing view of the bay and if we're lucky, we may have a sighting of the infamous Jersey Devil before heading back. Note: Oyster Creek at Leeds Point may be substituted for our lunch, depending on seasonal schedules.
Meeting you at the agreed upon pickup point, we will be off for an exciting day.
