I am passionate about American History, and am excited to share the large, immersive, outdoor classroom of Center City Philadelphia with you. I am a former Professor of Early American History, a docent at Carpenters Hall, a volunteer with the Independence Historic Trust, and a Research Fellow of the First Continental Congress. I have been a volunteer guide at Powel House, Washingtons Crossing, Moland House, and Laurel Hill Cemetary. I believe that the story of our country is built upon the people, the stories, and the struggles of our founders. I thrive on talking about these amazing people, and will be excited to show the specific sites that define our past. I also believe that an awesome tour stays with you forever. I promise not to download dozens of dates and facts that will be forgotten in a few days. My goal is to amaze you with the stories that teach, explain, and instill you with the same pride that I feel every time I walk through this most amazing city. As a former Professor of American History, I want to welcome you to America's most historic city. My tour is for history enthusiasts (or people who want to dive in deeper than the average tour). My tour will walk you through the entire Revolution. You will get a solid understanding of what happened, where it happened, and why it happened. You will see the places that you've heard about from history class. You will stand in the same rooms as John Adams and George Washington. You will hear about the debates leading up to the ratification of the Declaration. Even more importantly, we will dive into the U.S. Constitution and see, up close and personal, the US Supreme Court, Congress Hall, and the Executive Branch as they existed in 18th Century Philadelphia. Philadelphia is where you will feel a deeply profound and meaningful connection to the American Revolution. Come for the history, and leave with an experience that will stay with you forever.

Mark was an awesome tour guide. We did a three hour tour and it flew by. Mark added interesting stories and tidbits that made the history of the American Revolution come alive. We were thoroughly impressed and would highly recommend this to anyone and everyone!
Mark takes you back in time with his knowledge of the revolutionary era. The background and detailed understanding of the events and area around Philadelphia where fantastic. Mark adapted the tour to the things we were interested in. Was the best walking tour guide we have had on History tours. I highly recommend taking this tour!
Absolutely outstanding! From the moment the tour began he was friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly engaging. He shared fascinating stories and historical details that brought every stop to life, while also making the experience fun and interactive. His passion for the city was contagious, and he went above and beyond to answer questions. The tour was well-paced, organized and full of interesting facts we never would have discovered on our own. This was one of the highlights of our trip and it's entirely thanks to our amazing guide. If you're considering this tour, don't hesitate! You'll leave with wonderful memories and a much deeper appreciation for the area. Highly recommend!
Mark was amazing! He was not just a life-time local, but a US history PhD as well. We loved his passion, attention to detail, and ability to answer our questions at various levels. We also loved that he had great relationships with the people in the places we visited. We were impressed that he spent extra time with us to cover everything and set us up with awesome recommendations to finish our day. You won’t be disappointed with Mark!
