I’m Brandon, a born-and-raised Philly local who built a civic association pro-bono project while I was in my Masters program. After about 1,001 dog walks through my neighbourhood of Society Hill, I realized most tours were skipping the city’s most charming cobblestone streets and telling a Revolution story that felt more Boston than Philadelphia. So I mapped a “Philly Special” route that started at our oldest tavern, winding through Society Hill, and ending where the Declaration was first read at Independence Square. This route actually has the most picturesque photo opportunities of any tour offered in Philadelphia, with multiple colonial-coded areas to immortalize your trip that day and continue sharing afterwards. I’ve studied colonial history and city planning at Penn and Drexel, but don’t worry, I won't be delivering a facts-only lecture. On my tours, you’ll experience the Revolution through the people who actually lived it: printers, artisans, merchants, clergy, doctors, lawyers and builders, and I’ll connect the drama to the streets you’re standing on. And because you’re in Philly, you’ll also leave with the real local intel: from the best cheesesteaks to the coziest BYOBs and a few “not on the lists” spots you’ll want to revisit!

This guided bike tour explores the stretch of Philadelphia shaped most directly by the Delaware River. Riding along the waterfront, we’ll look at how the river influenced the city’s founding, trade, industry, and identity, and how the waterfront has been reimagined over time. The experience blends history, landscape, and light urban exploration, offering a different perspective than a traditional walking tour. You’ll learn how Penn’s Landing evolved from working port to public space, how the river continues to shape development today, and how historic neighborhoods connect back to the water that made Philadelphia possible. The tour finishes with a relaxed look at Old City, where narrow streets, early homes, and colonial landmarks provide a tangible sense of the city’s earliest days. This experience is ideal for curious travelers who enjoy being active while learning about history, urban change, and Philadelphia’s relationship with its waterfront.
The tour begins along the Delaware River at Penn’s Landing, where Philadelphia first developed as a port city. From there, we’ll ride north along the waterfront, following a largely flat and scenic route that highlights how the river shaped early trade, industry, and settlement. We’ll make stops at key points along the way, including Race Street Pier and Cherry Street Pier, to take in views of the river and discuss how the waterfront has changed from a working port to a modern public space. The ride continues toward Penn Treaty Park, where we’ll talk about William Penn, early encounters along the river, and the city’s original geography. After returning south along the riverfront, we’ll finish with a short, relaxed exploration of Old City, including Elfreth’s Alley and surrounding colonial-era streets, bringing the experience full circle from waterfront to historic neighborhood.
