From history to politics to society to tales of intrigue, espionage, conspiracy and mystery Join me on a walk around Amsterdam, tracing the footsteps of great artists who have lived & worked here, hearing stories about how the great masterpieces came about – how they were variously created, modified, hidden, looted, protected, retrieved, destroyed, forged, painted over. Check out where Rembrandt got started, where Van Gogh stood waiting for his friend, why Breitner had to rework on a canvas, how Herman Goering confiscated masterpieces, where the Nightwatch had a few of the original painted men cut off, where the greatest art forgery took place. All the while learn about the city and how it evolved through the centuries We will start at the heart of the city and end at the magnificent Rijksmuseum. At the museum we will see a lot of the actual artwork we were discussing all through the tour. After the tour you are welcome to stay on at the museum for as long as you want
