Guide #5431
Discover Japan through the guide with experience both rural and urban life, including traditional and modern culture in Japan. Hello! I'm Tomie, a nationally licensed tour guide based in Yokohama, near Tokyo. My favorite travel philosophy is "stop and smell the roses." Whether we're strolling through a quiet neighborhood, exploring a local market, or enjoying a cup of matcha together, I love helping visitors discover the everyday moments that make Japan unique. Food is one of my greatest passions. From local comfort foods and street snacks to seasonal specialties and traditional cuisine, I enjoy introducing guests to the flavors in our daily lives. I also enjoy sharing Japan's customs and traditions rooted in Shinto and Buddhism. From New Year's shrine visits to seasonal festivals and national holidays, I can help you understand the cultural background behind what you see during your stay. Japan is a fascinating blend of old and new arts such as Kabuki and Noh, or modern pop culture through anime and manga. If you're a fan of Pokémon, Naruto, or Demon Slayer, I'd love to share some of the cultural influences behind these beloved stories. Additionally, my study of Tea Ceremony and flower Arrangement, and Kimono have given me deep appreciation for Japanese craftsmanship and aesthetics. I was born and raised in rural Hokkaido, which gave me a strong appreciation for Japan's four seasons. Today, living in Yokohama allows me to share both urban and rural perspectives on Japan including Tokyo and even Kyoto (Japan's ancient capital). More than anything, I know well every traveler is different. So, it is my delight to share the many faces of Japan with you and help you create memories that will last a lifetime. I look forward to welcoming you to Japan! * National licensed tour guide (English) * English STEP test Grade 1 * Authorized Tour Conductor * JGA (Japan Guide Association) guide Training course I don't have a commercial driver's license, so my tours are based on walking, using subway, train and taxi, depending on the tour you book.

Tomie was a wonderful guide she is very knowledgeable and such a delight to be with. She took very good care of us. My husband walks very slowly, she was patient and adapted the tour to suit our needs. We highly recommend Tomie.

Tomie was instrumental in planning our wonderful port day in Shimizu. There was 15 in our family of 3 generations on a cruise and we were not sure how to spend the day. Thankfully Mt. Fuji stayed mostly clear all day (which is very rare in June), and added to everyone's excitement. Tomie took us up to a lovely tea farm and explained leaf picking, tea drinking, and...

Excellent walking tour of Yokohama. If you are looking for something different, especially for a personalized shore excursion, this is for you. Tomie is so knowledgeable, likable, warm, kind and flexible with the itinerary. We saw places no one else even thought of. As we walked thru the gardens there was a floral competition going on. The entries were so beautifully...
