I am passionate about American History, and am excited to share the large, immersive, outdoor classroom of Center City Philadelphia with you. I am a former Professor of Early American History, a docent at Carpenters Hall, a volunteer with the Independence Historic Trust, and a Research Fellow of the First Continental Congress. I have been a volunteer guide at Powel House, Washingtons Crossing, Moland House, and Laurel Hill Cemetary. I believe that the story of our country is built upon the people, the stories, and the struggles of our founders. I thrive on talking about these amazing people, and will be excited to show the specific sites that define our past. I also believe that an awesome tour stays with you forever. I promise not to download dozens of dates and facts that will be forgotten in a few days. My goal is to amaze you with the stories that teach, explain, and instill you with the same pride that I feel every time I walk through this most amazing city. As a former Professor of American History, I want to welcome you to America's most historic city. My tour is for history enthusiasts (or people who want to dive in deeper than the average tour). My tour will walk you through the entire Revolution, starting with the French and Indian War. You will have a solid understanding of what happened, where it happened, and why it happened. You will see the places that you've heard about from history class. You will stand in the same rooms as John Adams and George Washington. You will hear about the debates leading up to the ratification of the Declaration. Even more importantly, we will walk through the ratification of the U.S. Constitution and see, up close and personal, the US Supreme Court, Congress Hall, and the Executive Branch as they existed in 18th Century Philadelphia. This was the first time that a colony dared to break from the mother country. Live it with me, and leave with an understanding that will stay with you forever.
After we meet, we will cover the following spots: Welcome Park (Home of William Penn) City Tavern The First Bank Carpenters Hall Franklin Court The Second Bank American Philosophical Society Old City Hall Independence Hall Congress Hall Liberty Bell The President's House Arch Street Meeting House Elfreth's Alley Christ Church * Itinerary can be customized upon request. Feel free to message me.
