Having lived in Anchorage, Alaska, for some 45 years and being a small-business owner for decades, I have traveled worldwide extensively as well as throughout the state of Alaska. Was born and raised and lived for many years in both Norway and Sweden before moving to Alaska. Worked in the airline and travel industry for years and display a great joy and passion sharing information related to travel within the state, and possess patience and enthusiasm along with a good dose of positivity! I am easy to get along with, flexible, and will go out of my way to provide for an exceptional and personal learning experience for every tour customer, whom I treat as a personal guest. All of my tours can be customized upon request and always open to new adventures. I am a small business owner specializing in Alaska travel and outdoor activities, including guiding groups of individuals in wilderness settings, and have written or co-authored a half dozen books on specifics regarding the subject. I am also trained in CPR and First Aid. Was employed as a teacher at the University of Alaska for 14 years as well. None

The winter season in Turnagain Arm and Portage Glacier Valley has an incredible magnetism of its own that according to many observers even surpasses that of other times of the year. We will drive along the highly scenic fjord of Turnagain Arm witnessing the tremendous tidal changes that may range up to 38 feet (the second largest in the world) and see giant ice floes tumbling with the rushing currents. Wild Dall sheep are a very common sight on the rocky outcroppings along the arm and make for very picturesque subjects. Adjoining Portage Glacier Valley is absolutely mesmerizing with its evergreen rainforest, surrounding snow-clad mountains, and glaciers. Moose sightings are very common on this tour as they forage in the brush near the road, and bald eagle may be present as well. As an option, a visit to the Girdwood ski community or Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is also possible, and a side tour to Whittier can be done by request.
