Having lived in Anchorage, Alaska, for some 45 years and being a small-business owner for decades, I have traveled worldwide extensively as well as throughout the state of Alaska. Was born and raised and lived for many years in both Norway and Sweden before moving to Alaska. Worked in the airline and travel industry for years and display a great joy and passion sharing information related to travel within the state, and possess patience and enthusiasm along with a good dose of positivity! I am easy to get along with, flexible, and will go out of my way to provide for an exceptional and personal learning experience for every tour customer, whom I treat as a personal guest. All of my tours can be customized upon request and always open to new adventures. I am a small business owner specializing in Alaska travel and outdoor activities, including guiding groups of individuals in wilderness settings, and have written or co-authored a half dozen books on specifics regarding the subject. I am also trained in CPR and First Aid. Was employed as a teacher at the University of Alaska for 14 years as well. None

While the city of Anchorage is often seen as a magnet of visitor activity during the warmer months of the year, those who live here through the colder season will attest that it can be a seemingly magical place filled with winter wonderland effects and activities. With limited daylight hours, we will traverse the most densely populated city in the state to view a selection of favorite locales that exemplifies the uniqueness and beauty of this northern town, from the various holiday lighting displays and the busy atmosphere of annual winter competitions (ice/snow sculpting, dog mushing, etc.), to nature's own splendid creations like frozen waterfalls, moose wandering through area neighborhoods, and some of the most spectacular and fiery sunsets anywhere. Note: This tour is only available from November 1 through March 31.
Note: The tour is subject to accommodating your personal interest and schedule and can be altered or changed upon request, including tour duration. Exact daily itinerary depends on weather conditions and scheduled social outdoor activities. Flexibility is the key! * Pick-up at site of your choice (Hotel, airport, bNb, etc. ) * Option to view one or several city events, ranging from holiday activities and Fur Rendezvous (trapper's auction, carnival festivities, food, etc.) to Iditarod Sled Dog Race and snow and ice sculpting competitions. Participate in or watch the "Running of the Reindeer" event and/or go ride a dog sled! * Stop at select number of viewpoints to observe the city and its surroundings * Option to visit the Alaska Native Cultural Center * Learn about Anchorage as well as todays environment, all from a historic, cultural, social, geo-political, and economic perspective * Scout for moose along roads and highways--winter is the perfect time to see these large animals that thrive in the city
