Overview of your Edinburgh tour
The story of Jamie and Claire Fraser from the TV series Outlander has become an international success story. Visiting the filming sites of this TV show will be a treat for any Outlander enthusiast but every building on our trip has it's own fascinating history. I love to share the real stories of our past. This tour will allow us to step back into the past, just as Claire did. We will walk in a time of castles and clans and get first hand experience of the incredible history of these ancient buildings. What better way to do so than in the company of a local with a keen interest in the stories? When you are in the castles let your imagination run wild and you will feel the history around you, you can imagine the sights, sounds and smells of the past. Not only will you feel you have visited the Fraser's home but also that of Braveheart, the Outlaw King and indeed Mary Queen of Scots. All in a single day. Then you can return to your nice comfy bed and enjoy a good nights sleep.
Your Edinburgh tour itinerary
- From your pick up point we will visit Midhope Castle, Jamie's family home - From there we will head to Blackness Castle near Bo'ness depicted as Fort William in the programme and one of the locations where Jamie was imprisoned. - From Bo'ness we will travel to Linlithgow Palace another location where Jamie was imprisoned and the real birth place of Mary Queen of Scots. - From Linlithgow we will head up to Doune Castle, (Castle Leoch) where Jamie himself will guide you through this historic castle. In addition to Outlander this location was also used for filming in Game of Thrones and Monty Python and the Holy grail. - We will continue our tour driving into Culross, a beautiful little village on the Fife coast used for many scenes in the programme. - This will complete our tour and we will return to Edinburgh to your selected drop off point.
