Greetings from Scotland! I live in between Edinburgh and St Andrews and I don't mean in the middle of the North Sea. I am just fortunate to have bases in these two beautiful cities. Born in Edinburgh where I worked most of my life, I attended the University of St Andrews and even managed to scrape into the University golf team. I have now laid down roots there, as a golf caddie, journalist and becoming a tour guide. I had a restaurant in Edinburgh and am a bit of a foodie. This is a high priority on my tours. At least to point you in the direction of the best bars and restaurants. So I consider myself to be an Edinburgher and a St Andrean too. I am very lucky. I have rather eclectic interests and my party-piece is reciting Robert Burns's epic poem Tam O'Shanter which I can do for you over a wee dram ! On me ! I would love to show you around this wonderful part of Scotland and all that it has to offer. Its marvellous architecture, breathtaking scenery, cobbled wynds and cosy bars, characters and cathedrals and castles. But let's be sure to have fun. Twenty years of experience of working in hospitality has taught me to have that as the cornerstone of my tours. I have been a ski guide in the Alps, a golf instructor in Spain, a florist, a restaurateur, a golf writer (check out the kilted caddie blog!) and a somewhat caddie on the St Andrews Links. But now I have found my real forte. It's in entertaining people and showing them the places that I really know and love. So now, I look forward to meeting you all too. I hope! Please note that I am not a driver. I undertake walking tours only. Thanks and looking forward to meeting you in Scotland!

Overview of your Edinburgh tour

The essence of this walking tour is to give you a flavour of the Old Town of Edinburgh. We will walk up the high street and down wynds and closes, see St Giles Cathedral, the Castle and the Grassmarket. And I will tell you of its history and give you an insight into its rich heritage and some of its notable characters and traditions. If you are up for it we can have a wee dram of whisky (on me!) and I can recite some Burns poetry.

Kilted Keith met us at our AirBnb for a 4 hour fascinating and fun tour of Edinburgh. He curated it to some of our requests but also pointed out interesting details that we didn’t know even through we had been by them before. In the midst of the Fringe he found an insider’s cafe and treated us to coffee and pastries. When I mentioned that I loved millionaire bars he bought me an extra. He entertained us with a recitation of a part of the poem Tom O’Shanter and gave us recommendations for other adventures, including in St. Andrews where we were heading. We felt very lucky to have found him and would highly recommend his tour.

Keith is a fantastic guide. Charming, knowledgeable, interested and fun - what more could you want in a guide. He brought the city to life and was able to answer every question we asked. If you are looking for a tour guide in Edinburgh, look no further. Keith is amazing. Garry

We both had a delightful time. Keith curated the tour to our interest. He pointed out quite a few places in Edinburgh that we would have missed on a larger group. The poetry he recited put a personal touch on his love of the city. The history was made both interesting and fun. The ice cream shop was fantastic. Definitely go there. Keith addresses both my husband and I on topics of interest. It did not feel like a rehearsed speech. That is important, not to feel like ‘just another paying tour.’ We didn’t. We both had a great afternoon with Keith. Thank you Keith for making us feel welcome. Both of us want to come back and spend more time getting to know this great area!

Your Edinburgh tour itinerary

The tour can be customised but basically we will usually cover the following sights. The Castle (from outside) The Writers Museum Victoria Street Grassmarket Greyfriars Bobby! Harry Potter sites JK Rowling's real cafe Old College St Giles Cathedral Scottish Parliament building Holyrood Palace (from outside) Interesting closes and wynds Tam O'Shanter recital And more! I can take you around some New Town sites if desired Of course if you are staying in Edinburgh I can meet you at your hotel or other designated place. Otherwise, the centre of Edinburgh is only a 2 hour scenic bus journey from St Andrews. Buses are very comfortable and leave every hour. Or there is the option of taxi and train which would take just over an hour from St Andrews.
