Hello, my name is Sarah, I am a qualified Blue Badge tour guide in English and Italian, part of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association. My main passions are history, human beings and storytelling, that is why I became a tour guide. Being empathetic is a fundamental skill when working with people, that is why my tours are different according to the age, nationality, and needs of my customers. Delivering tours, for me, means also to have a good time and my enjoyment is infectious! Edinburgh is a vibrant jewel immersed in history and culture and it will be my pleasure to share it with you. My fortes are completely customised walking tours: from 3 hours to all day or days, I take people around and make them discover this marvellous city, through my eyes. All my tours can be customised to meet your personal interests and needs. In this 6 hour private tour together we will enjoy a wonderful day discovering all the highlights of the New and the Old Town, which make Edinburgh a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will start with the New Town, its regal streets, elegant buildings and squares. Then, we will go down to Princes Street Gardens were a lake used to be and climb one of the most breathtaking hills of the city. We will visit graveyards full of mysteries and dark history and hear about faithful dogs, courageous and unlucky monarchs and magical schools (for Harry Potter fans, I will include some special stops). We will end the tour in front of the magnificent Edinburgh Castle.
The tour will be as followed: - Highlights of the New Town, including Charlotte Square and George Street and Princes Street and the Gardens. - After that we will visit Calton Hill, New Scottish Parliament (from outside) and the Royal Mile, exploring some hidden alleys with secret gardens. - We will see the father of the Scottish Reformation's house (from outside). - We will visit the magnificent Cathedral (if open). - Then cut down to a narrow alley and reach the Grassmarket. - Finally visit the most important monumental graveyard in the city. - We will end the tour in front of Edinburgh Castle. This is a suggested itinerary, let me know what you would like to see and do and I will customize the tour accordingly.
