Hello and welcome to my bio. I am Edinburgh born and bred and have lived here for most of my life. After leaving the Army 20 years ago and returning to my hometown I started in the family business of taxi driving and my true love and passion for my city was released. I have spent my spare time furthering my knowledge of this amazing city and passed the Taxi Tour Guiding course. I thoroughly enjoy and love nothing more than passing on my knowledge in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. On each of my tours I like to make them informative and educational as well as fun and entertaining. This is not a coach tour. This is all about you! Do you want to take a photograph of something you like? You can. Or pop into a pub and sample some of our world famous whisky and hospitality? You can. The choice is yours completely! I will be your guide and use my local knowledge to show you places and parts of the city and Scotland as a whole that most people never get the chance to see but I would rather show you the parts that you are interested in. Being a taxi driver has allowed me the opportunity to take part in several charity trips in different cities of the UK and have been extremely fortunate to have taken part in the London to Disneyland Paris trip for terminally ill children every year since 2005. The vehicle I use is a Hyundai i800 mpv. It has exceptional interior space. I can comfortably carry 7 passengers. Not fully wheelchair accessible although there is enough space in the trunk for a folding wheelchair. My car is fully insured. Edinburgh liscensed taxi driver. Edinburgh taxi tour guide. A trip through the Kingdom of Fife taking in the beautiful scenery as we discover more about Robert the Bruce and William Wallace. - En route to Stirling we can stop of at some battlefields where the Bruce and William Wallace fought and defeated the English Armies (Falkirk, Stirling Bridge and of course Bannockburn). - Then it is on to Stirling to take in the majestic Castle and Wallace monument. Neil was great. He communicated well before the tour and he was a wealth of information while on the tour. We were able to customize our tour, which allowed us to see some things we wanted to experience. Neil has a great personality and we had an enjoyable day driving around with him. We highly recommend taking one of his tours.
Incredible day with Neil, he was friendly, knowledgeable and on time. He never rushed us as we visited Sterling Castle and Bannockburn. He even added a stop at another castle that was of particular interest to us. He was filled with knowledge of Scottish history and offered much history as we went from site to site. I highly recommend Neil!
Neil gave us a wonderful tour that met all of our expectations. We made changes as we went and he adjusted to our needs. I would highly recommend him to anyone visiting the Edinburgh area.
Neil was a lot of fun and a great conversationalist who had an itinerary for the tour but also presented us with the option of flexibility to add or change anything. In addition, he allowed us as much or as little time as we wanted at each of the sites, so there was no pressure at any point to return to him by a specific time. It was a relaxing experience that we would highly recommend!
