We will explore the ancient Royal Mile, linking the cities two world famous royal residences, Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queens official royal residence! Edinburgh Castle is the Uk's second most visited paid attraction and is spectacularly sited on ancient volcanic rock. WIthin its walls we can see the Royal Palace, Great Hall, Dungeons and maybe hear the deafening One O Clock gun! We can also see historic St Giles Cathedral, mother church of Presbyterianism and home to the stunning thistle chapel. We can visit the National Museum of Scotland with and see the Lewis Chessman and Dolly the Sheep (the world's first cloned animal) and possibly visit the National Gallery. We will also get extraordinary views of the famous Old Town skyline from the elegant Georgian new town where will wander through beautiful Princes St Gardens and admire the incredible Scott Monument close up.
