Since moving to Edinburgh in 1988 from Germany, via South Africa and Switzerland, I am continually struck by the awesome beauty of this European Capital, by the visible history, the living culture and the juxtaposition of nature and city. I have been guiding individuals and groups through Edinburgh, Scotland and the rest of the UK since 1994 and just love imparting knowledge, local anecdotes, introducing guests to the history and the daily life of this mesmerising country and city. Come and join me on one of my walks and prepare to be enchanted, entertained and educated. If you have any particular requirements or interests, I would love to hear from you and could then tailor a tour exactly to your requirements/interests. As a mother of six, I am particularly suited to adapt the program towards children/teenagers and have experience in bringing history alive for them. I very much look forward to meeting you and showing you around! 29yrs of experience of guiding individuals and groups for shorter or longer holidays, including cruise passengers. You will be picked up at your port at 8. 30 am and then we head north via the Firth of Forth bridge to discover the peninsula of Fife. We will visit the former Royal Palace of Falkland to delve into its history and visit the gardens, before taking a short stroll through the hamlet. Then we head to St Andrew's with its combination of the ruined abbey, Bishop's Palace, and the Royal and Ancient Golf Course. Depending on the weather you may wish to have some free time exploring the streets of this beautiful university town. If there is enough time, we will visit Culross, a small village that has hardly changed since the 17th century and which provided the backdrop for some scenes in the Outlander series.
- Pick up at hotel/harbour - Photostop at the Three Bridges Viewpoint, South Queensferry. - Visit Falkland Palace and it's beautiful garden - Walk through St Andrew's city centre -Explore Culross. - Return to Edinburgh If you have any specific questions or interest, please feel free to send me a message.
