Just go with Pepe. He was entertaining and was able to weave several centuries of history into a great walking city tour. He made sure the pace worked for the 5 of us. Thank you!

Olé Amigos! I'm a professional guide, licensed tour manager born in the city of Madrid. I previously lived and worked in Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Tel Aviv & San Sebastian for my food and wine career in michelin starred restaurants. I'm a chef and wine expert, so I feel passion about touring while caring for the "eating and drinking" factor. My somewhat nomadic lifestyle has given me a wide perspective of life, culture, history and the excitement of experiencing new destinations while enjoying and respecting local traditions. Apart from living in different countries and learning to adapt to different cultures, I keep traveling & have been a tourist myself many times. I love planning my excursions by my morning cup of coffee, always hungry to find new exciting local spots and stories that enrich my insider's insight. Perhaps you have been to Spain before and you are looking for something new? From my own travelling experience I know how important is to get to the best places avoiding being treated "like a tourist" or how tricky it can get finding that unforgettable wine cellar, having the right restaurant table or sitting at an intimate Flamenco "tablao". As a local, I already know all those special places and hidden corners, typical cafés, unknown museums and specialized stores - and I will be more than happy to share my learnings with you. I will tell you plenty of curious anecdotes about where we are walking by, what are we tasting or contemplating at. During your stay, I will be the Spaniard that hosts you, your family and friends, and I will organize for you the visits tailored to your needs and at your own pace so you can enjoy the most of it. -IATM (International Association of Tour Managers). -EFR (Emergency First Response, Primary and Secondary Care CPR/First Aid). -Images used on my tours are licensed by Spanish Ministry of Tourism - tourspain.es DISCLAIMER: The contents exposed during the tours are of common knowledge or else the guide´s own research on the matter. Pepe is a very interesting and fun guy! He knows a lot about many diverse topics (e.g. diving in Indonesia, choosing the best Madrid restaurants, etc.). His 'very comprehensive' tour of Madrid started with his meeting us in our hotel near the Palacio, then taking a quick subway ride to the eastern side of the city, so that when we walked back to our hotel, we would see the best sights in chronolocial order. For Roman ruins, to comparing the Habsburg kings, to El-Greco, to Franco's time, to the latest events ... we covered it all, in a 4 hour walk (over flat paths). Sounds like quite a hike, but he made it very interesting. Hey, if a 70+ year old couple can do it easily....
His recall of history was amazing. He was very personable and catered to our choices
Pepe was great. He took us around Madrid, keeping our kids engaged with entertaining stories while sharing anecdotes that made history come to life. He even took us to a local tavern for refreshments when we needed a pick me up and curated a wonderful lunch. I would definitely recommend his services!
We just finished a WONDERFUL walking tour with Pepe. What an amazing guide. Very organized. while walking in what it seemed 40C weather, he kept the pace slow enough for me to enjoy the walk as well as fast enough for our 2 yourng girl. He made sure we walked on the shade as much as possible and made stops in the shade, for me I thought to give me time to rest, but for the rest of the group he gave stories of each monument we saw and how it fitted in Spain's history, Pepe was able to personalized our tour regarding time when to start and end, and also a great pace both with the walking and telling us the history of spain, I highly recommend Pepe for any of the tours he is an excellent tour guide. He has passion and respect for what he does, I apprecilated that. July 17, 2026. Thank you Pepe, I hope to book a tour with you when I return to Spain.
Pepe is extremely knowledgeable about Madrid and Spanish history. We would answer any questions we asked. We found his touring style a little awkward for us. He would walk in front of us, we followed, then he would choose a place to stop and present the site and his story. Most of our tours when private have been more interactive. He knew his information-just his style was not the best for me.
The tour starts with a welcome presentation, an introduction of the tour's content to provide an interesting, updated point of view of the historical side of Madrid. We handle directly towards the fantastic 'literary neighbourhood', where greatest writers, poets and playwrights made their home, the life in Spain of the American author Ernest Hemingway, the Cervantes' House, where the world's greatest novel, Don Quixote, was written. Next, the Madrid of the Hapsburg dynasty. Paseo el Prado, Plaza Mayor, Royal Palace, Almudena Cathedral, San Gines Church, Spanish Inquisition, Gated Square, Royal Theather, Sol, the heart of Madrid. Moreover this itinerary includes: Guinness world's oldest restaurant, Origin of tapas, Homes for Malice, The Bear and the Strawberry Tree, Plaza de la Villa, Gated Square. The visit is completed by a stroll through the historical center, main square, anarchist Attack, Spanish Civil War, The Robin Hood of Madrid and the Jewish & Moorish Ruins. Distances to between items 150-200 ms.
