Hello!! My name is Mayte , I was born and raised in Madrid , as my parents are locals , I am a "cat". I studied Tourism in the University of Madrid because I love history, art , traveling and meeting people. After traveling through Europe for 10 years guiding tourist groups, I decided to do the exams to become an official guide of Madrid , Segovia, Toledo and Avila. Certificated by Rasgo Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters. I am waiting for the chance to show you my lovely country . Then we will have a marvellous tour through the most outstanding paintings and sculptures of the first part of the twenty century in Reina Sofia Museum ( Picasso, Dali, Miro, Calder, etc) TUESDAYS Reina Sofia is closed. Mayte is extremely knowledgeable about art in general and especially the art in the Prado and Reina Sophia. She made art and artists come alive. The only problem was that sometimes, with the level of background noise in the museum it was difficult to hear her . She was a pleasant and accommodating tpur guide.
Mayte was a great guide with tons of knowledge! She reallly was great at showing us all the amazing art that Madrid has to offer. The Prado was incredible and is a must see for anyone coming to Madrid. Mayte was great with our girls and kept them engaged throughout the tour. Highly recommend this tour and Mayte!
We did a four hour tour with Mayte of the Prado (2 hrs) and Reina Sofia (2hrs) in February 2026. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Mayte was knowledgeable and really fun to be with for the tours. She was well organized and provided great overview of important works and artists while weaving in Spanish history. Would highly recommend her to anyone looking to do a tour. It was me (57) and my son (26) and she made it really enjoyable and held our attention for the full four hours.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Prado and Reina Sofia museums with Mayte. She was able to efficiently show us the most impressive works of art in each museum and provide us with the context and background for each piece that made the experience much more fulfilling. I highly recommend Mayte if you plan on touring the museums in Madrid!
Mayte gave the four of us a 4-hour tour of the Prado and Reina Sofia. She was excellent! I learned so much about art and artists in a very short time. She knew exactly where to take us in the museums to see the highlights and backed up her explanations with images she shared on her phone. Highly recommend.
Mayte was an excellent guide for seeing the highlights of the Prado and Sofia Reina museums. Visiting these museums alone can be daunting. Mayte navigated us through both museums with her insights on the important works of art that should not be missed in each museum. She really knows her stuff.
We will embark on a journey to discover the Masterpieces from the Permanent Collection of both museums. The meeting is the Prado museum to start the tour ( but we can choose another place) -There, we will discover famous for works by such major artist from the spanish school as Goya, Velazquez or Greco, but also a wide range of Italian and Low Countries artist as fray Angelico, Titian , Rubens or Bosch. . . -We will do a 15 minutes break before heading to Reina Sofia Museum to see works of Spain's most important artist in the twenty century like Salvador Dali, Picasso or Miro. Reina Sofia is the house of Guernica , a painting that has become universal and powerful symbol warning the humanity against the suffering and devastation of war.
