Hello wanderers and other travellers! I am Andrea and I will be happy to walk you through my hometown, Madrid, and/or its whereabouts. I graduated in Art History. Besides, I also love history, literature, cinema and everything that is a bliss for the senses. I've traveled a lot and I lived several years in the United States. I think Madrid is a very special city, with a marked identity, amazing life in its streets, as well as a very wide range of cultural and gastronomic opportunities. Either if you're an art fan or would just like to explore the best museums in Madrid or the city and its history, your choice is perfect. If you like walking, finding new places, new standpoints, discovering special streets, getting lost in charming neighbourhoods, here you have the perfect companion. I love wandering about the city, observing beautiful, special, sometimes small, details. My passion is to convey the interlinkages between history, art, literature, science… I move away from a fragmented view. I often work with families too, which induces me to address simultaneously a wide range of ages, a diversity of interests. I have been working in a radio show on art insights in Madrid: a cabinet of curiosities on air. Walking beside you, I'll guide your senses to see the invisible. I can design special tours according to your needs. Tell me your interests, your passions, and I will customise the perfect tour for you! As part of our tour we will discover the Arabic origins of Madrid, how it became the Court capital with the Habsburg Dynasty (The Austrias), the changes it underwent, its incredible growth and the challenges this entailed, its most distinctive architecture, amusing stories of the time, charming spots. . . We will walk through the Moorish quarter, where Muslims settled after the Christian Reconquest, we will see where the markets were located, as the meeting places of past centuries and maybe having an aperitif in any of the historic and legendary taverns of the city. Then we will enter the most à-la-mode Madrid: from Puerta del Sol we will arrive at Gran Vía, a magnum opus from the beginning of the 20th century that shows us a cosmopolitan, ambitious, elegant city with a well-known nightlife. We can end our tour going up to a rooftop bar, where we will have outstanding views of the capital, and from where it will be possible to observe its evolution throughout history. There are many options
- Plaza de la Armería, the ideal place to enjoy architecture, and history and for taking great photos - Surrounding of the Royal Palace, the largest palace in Western Europe and one of the largest in the world and witness of centuries of Spanish history - Surroundings of Calle Mayor, one of the most ancient streets of Madrid - La Morería or Latina neighborhood, discover one of the most characteristic and pleasant neighborhoods of Madrid - La Villa square, where you will enjoy discovering some of the oldest buildings still around in the city - Plaza Mayor, a major public space and the heart of Madrid - Puerta del Sol, a gracious, busy square of elegant facades, daily crossroads of madrileños - Gran Via street, a very lively street with plenty of bars and where you can go for tapas or enjoy a cold drink on hot summer days - Finish at some of the amazing Madrid's rooftops and enjoy the best views of Madrid. (As there can be lines or fees to enter, I recommend deciding this in advance)
