¡Hola! Welcome to Madrid! My name is Leonor. I am a professional licensed tour guide who never gets bored exploring the city that I love. I was born in Madrid, but I grew up in Córdoba. I studied in Madrid: I got first the degree in Tourism, and some years later I got the degree in German Philology (UCM University Complutense in Madrid). I worked as a tour leader travelling with groups during five years, but then I realized that I wanted to live in Madrid and work in this fantastic city. Guiding individual clients/groups is my full time job, and I have worked as a local guide since 1999. I love art, history, meeting people from other countries and showing them my city. Are you considering exploring Madrid? If you only have a few hours, this is the tour that you shouldn't miss. We'll have luxury and charm in one visit. Together, we'll see hidden gems that would go unnoticed if you would explore the city on your own. I'm passionate about my city and you'll be it too! We'll visit two of the must-see sites of Madrid. The amazing Royal Palace (the biggest in western Europe) is the official residence of the royal family. Nowadays it is used for states ceremonies. Placed on a hill, it occupies a corner of Madrid steeped in history: Magerit (old name for Madrid) was born there! After visiting the Palace, we'll go for a stroll in the old Madrid (Habsburgs' quarter). It is the most genuine, traditional and charming neighbourhood. It is full of squares like the popular Puerta del Sol, where we, the "madrileños", continue the tradition of eating 12 grapes every 31st of Dec to welcome the new year! In 1561 a small town became the capital of the empire where the sun never set. . .

Leonor did a great job touring us through Old Madrid prior to entering the Royal Palace of Madrid. All of the squares were fascinating to see and hear about the history. What a delight to have a military horse parade come by prior to our entry into the palace. The Royal Palace was amazing to see and what we'd call a must see in Madrid. Leonor did a great job adjusting for the schedules of our granddaughters - touring with little ones can be challenging at times. Overall a great morning and just what we wanted.

When the Royal Palace canceled our visit at the last minute, she pivoted and created a longer city walking tour for us. She showed us some tucked away spots and beautiful areas around the city. - Royal Palace (inside). Whenever official events take place at the Royal Palace, it will remain closed to visitors. I will let you know if that happens. In that case, I will give you other options. - Plaza de Oriente (Orient Square) - Plaza de la Villa (Villa Square): Old Town Hall - Mercado de San Miguel (St Miguel Market): gourmet "tapas" market - Plaza Mayor (Mayor Square): the most notable Habsburg construction - Puerta del Sol ( Sun Gate Square): km 0, bear and strawberry tree statue -symbol of Madrid- This is my suggestion but I can customize the tour for you, so do not hesitate to contact me if you have specific interests!
