Hola!! I'm Dr. Tate C. an Official Catalan Tour Guide (skip the line guide), researcher and writer. Like Antoni Gaudí, I was born and raised in Reus, and also like him I moved to Barcelona for my college education. This city trapped both of us. Being a former university professor, today I combine my tours, with my writing and with my academic life: congresses, research, and publications. My scholar research allows you to dig deeper and ask plenty of questions . . . More depth than breath :-) I am a holder of a PhD in Journalism and Communication, as well as a degree in Translation and Interpreting. I have written numerous books and guidebooks on Gaudí and other catalan architects. We can talk about buildings; but we can talk about food, traditions, ways of living, politics, economy. . . Life in Barcelona and in Catalunya fascinates me and I love to share my views with visitors and learn about your opinions For my tours I use my own set of Radioguides, what is commonly called whisperers or quiet boxes. I will talk to a microphone and you will have a tiny earphone, similar to an earring which will highly improve the quality of the visits, specially in noisy areas, inside the taxis, and of course. . . in La Sagrada Familia! Thanks to the whisperer system, you can take pictures and walk medium distances from the grup while you keep listening to my explanations and do not lose track of the tour :-) Don't take me as a boring scholar guide. I will take you to try Tapas, we can explore the every-day life of the city, take amazing family pictures on the seafront. . . I am a journalist and write guidebooks on Barcelona and that is what you will get in this tour: A most comprehensive and delicious itinerary that starts with a lovely driving up to Montjuic, the rocky mountain that you saw when entering the port, facing the cruise ship terminal; and finishes with an optional and inspirational walking in the old town: El barri gòtic. It includes a long stop in the breathtaking Sagrada Família catholic church, 136 years under construction! by the famous architect Antoni Gaudí. That's the most visited place in Spain. Montserrat (Tate) was amazing, kind and insightful. She modified the tour for our needs, even tweaked our pickup time (with approval from us) so that we could get into the Sagrada Familia at the best time of daylight. At the end, she dropped us off at a restaurant for us to have a meal and it was the best meal.
Tate certainly deserves more than five stars. We had an outstanding tour with her and her excellent driver. The tour including all the highlights we hoped to see and even more. In addition to her deep knowledge of Barcelona it was obvious that her background as a journalist gave her a useful perspective on the city and Catalonia for us. I can only highly recommend her and hope others are fortunate to have such a qualified and personable guide.
Tate Our tour with Tate was absolutely amazing. She picked us up in a roomy easy to access vehicle. She gave us ear devices to wear and used a microphone to speak, which made understanding her commentary extremely easy, especially for my husband who cannot hear well. it was our third visit to Barcelona, but she made it like our first she is very energetic and informative. Her English is superb, if you find yourself in Barcelona, whether it’s for the first time or the third time, please consider booking this tour.
We could not have had a more knowledgeable, attentive, responsive, communicative, genial guide than Tate C. We always knew what to expect from initial booking to meet up and tour. She listened to us and adapted to our desires. I would book with her again and recommend her highly to anyone interested in Barcelona/Catalunya tours.
