Hi, my name is Hermes, a private guide based in Lisbon with a background in corporate events. I was born in Cascais, a coastal town west of Lisbon known for its multicultural environment. During my teenage years, I had the opportunity to travel across the country, experiencing different Portuguese traditions and visiting most of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Portugal. After 20 years of professional experience in corporate events, in 2014 I decided to embrace a new professional project: welcoming and introducing Portuguese culture to those who visit us. Each tour is designed as a private event, with attention to detail and a focus on your experience. I enjoy reading novels, walking through historic streets, travelling, meeting people, and talking about Portuguese history and culture. Overview of your Lisbon tour
Sintra is a beautiful village full of history, with an unique natural park and views over the ocean. A wonderful place where the old continent ends and the new world begins. Cascais, once a fishing village, later a resort for European royalty, it is now considered the Portuguese Riviera. Sintra, historic village, it is known for the palaces and the Moorish castle, land of royalty, fairy tales, mystical places and parks with trees from all continents. On our day trip we will also see small towns over the cliffs and the westernmost point in European continent. Cascais, a waterfront village, with several beaches, where you can walk through the same places that European royalty walked and feel the ocean breeze. I can customize this tour according to your requests

Hermes was AMAZING! Our communication before the tour was quick and responsive to our questions. He met us (6) at the hotel and we began our tour to Sintra. He was a spectacular guide. Personable, knowledgeable, funny and a pleasure to be with. He organized a wonderful seaside lunch and his tour around Lisbon on the way home gave us a terrific feel for the city. We can't recommend Hermes enough! Plus, guides from Tour By Locals are the best in ANY location! They are our go to guides on any trip!

Hermes provided an excellent experience. He was prompt, courteous, informative, & well-organized. The tour of Pena Palace was fantastic, as were his viewpoints of Sintra. He chose an excellent lunch spot outside Cascais which we greatly appreciated. I found both Sintra & Cascais to be a little touristy and therefore not my most favorite part of the Portugal trip but it’s what we signed up for. Notwithstanding that, I highly recommend Hermes as a guide.
