I’m Rui, a certified local guide based in Lisbon, and over the years I’ve had the pleasure of delivering more than 900 private tours across Portugal for travelers from all over the world—especially from the United States and Canada. My approach is simple: to offer a personal, relaxed, and well-organized experience, where you can enjoy Portugal at your own pace while I take care of all the details. I try to make each day feel natural and enjoyable—combining history, culture, local insights, and flexibility along the way. Many of my guests say it feels more like exploring with a knowledgeable local friend than being on a traditional tour. I specialize in private, fully customizable and skip the line tours throughout the country, including Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, Óbidos, Nazaré, Fátima, Tomar, Coimbra, Aveiro, Porto, the Douro Valley, Évora, the Algarve, and even southern Spain. Whether it’s a full-day tour or a multi-day itinerary, everything is adapted to your interests and pace. For cruise travelers, I offer flexible shore excursions designed around your schedule, with smooth pick-up and return so you can explore with complete peace of mind. I also provide private transfers across Portugal, which can include stops along the way—turning travel days into part of the experience. The car that I use in my tours is a SUV, a Peugeot 5008. Comfortable and spacious, with a trunk big enough for large suitcases and carry on’s. More than just guiding, I focus on creating moments you’ll remember—through stories, places, and a genuine connection to the country. Seja muito Feliz

Welcome to Sintra, the city of the Queens! A Portuguese city since the 12th Century, where we can still feel and breathe the Arabic influence of the founders of Cyntia. We will see Pena Palace and its gardens, a fascinating fairy tale palace from the 19th Century, located at one of the highest peaks of the Sintra mountain range. Quinta da Regaleira, built in the beginning of the 20th century by a gentleman who was a Knight Templar and a Mason, where we will travel back in time from the moment we enter the main gate until we leave. The National Palace of Sintra was one of the Royal Palaces and presents characteristics of medieval architecture, Arab, Gothic, Manueline, Renaissance and romantic. It is an extraordinary melting pot of architectural styles, unique and perfect for photos. Sintra is a lot more than this and we will have the chance to see signs of civilizations since the Roman Empire, the Arabic Omidians, Visigoths, Celtics and, of course, the Portuguese people and culture!
We will leave Lisbon in the morning and drive to Sintra, the city of the queens. We can start by visiting the National Palace and then taste the traditional Sintra pastry. Next we will visit the enchanted Palace of Pena and the Castle of the Moors, one the most symbolic castles of Portugal. According to the time, Quinta da Regaleira and Monserrate, are also nice places to visit. At the end of the day, we will still have time to visit Cape of the Rock, the westernmost place in Europe, where we can see the sun disappearing in the wild Atlantic before we return to Lisbon, driving along the coast and the Tagus River. If you have a specific itinerary in mind set, please send me a message and I'll customize the tour for you according to your preferences. Tickets and Lines are not a problem, don't worry about that. We can buy the tickets on site and enter without having to wait on the queues, saving lots of time and patience
