For centuries, Sintra was a favorite retreat of Portuguese kings, queens and noble families. A full day gives us time to understand why, rather than rushing between a palace and the next photo stop. We can visit Pena Palace with skip-the-line access whenever available and add another monument that matches your interests, such as Quinta da Regaleira, Monserrate Palace, the National Palace or the Moorish Castle. We’ll also explore the historic center, taste Sintra’s traditional pastries and enjoy the mountain scenery that shaped the town’s character. Along the way, I’ll connect royal history with Portugal today and answer your questions about our traditions and way of life. The day is designed for travelers who want depth, flexibility and a comfortable pace.
We can't say enough positive things about out tour with Rui. He is very friendly and knowledgeable about the current local affairs and historic aspects of the region. Our tour was customized to our interests amd he provided tips to help us easily navigate the busy day. The lunch spot he picked was a local place with excellent food and atmosphere. Rui is an excellent guide – friendly and professional. He was very accommodating about adjusting the tour and customizing the itinerary to our needs and what we enjoyed the most. He was proactive with ideas and pleasant to be around.
